Has anyone studied the Bible using the online resource of Agape Bible Study? It this okay to use as a Catholic person? Here is the link to the website. At first glance, it seems okay to me.

Thanks and God bless,

NOTWORTHY has used it and speaks highly of it.I speak very highly of NOTWORTHY.I’ve looked at it and is very sound and intelligent.I would contact NOTWORTHY and get more info.

Do you have a solid foundation of Catholic truth that will keep you from error?
Is there authorized Catholic bible studies available?

What does this have to do with me?It’s the Bible study we are discussing.I’d like to see your credentials before questioning mine. I have 4 yrs of diocesan Bible school and six years of teaching scripture-good enough?
Authorized by who? Many dioceses recommend different studies-I don’t know if there is an official stamp of approval. Agape study is good.Their is the Scott Hahn website that has an online bible study-free of cost there are others online .those in print,Navarre,St.Ignatius are the ones I’d recommendSt. ignatius is very affordable ,in depth, lots of maps.Right now there are a lot of Catholic Bible studies out there.Look at them online to discern if they fit your need.

Hi Houston,
All I can say is wow, I did not intend to question your credentials. They were not on the OP. The question “It this okay to use as a Catholic person?” prompted me to assert that you didn’t have a basis to judge “Agape Bible Study?..it seems okay”. So I asked the natural question; only out of fear for your faith. Given your credentials, I’d be interested in hearing your evaluation of the study.

“Authorized by who?” The suggestion of finding an authorized version was a mere second
thought. A hint of a direction that you might take.

I am a lazy typer(is that a word) though and didn’t express my concern as I should have.
Please excuse me for my inconsiderate thoughtless bable! 😊

Thanks for your post. My purpose in asking whether it was okay for a Catholic person to read was I was trying to determine whether it was supported by the Roman Catholic Church. Sometimes things call themselves “Catholic” without being in consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. I just wanted to make sure that the Bible Study with in line with Roman Catholic teaching.

So, is it a “safe” study? I didn’t understand from the way the thread evolved.

I too would also like to know the answer to this question. It is hard to find any reviews online for this study.

Agape is a very good, and traditional& very Catholic Bible Study. I have used their charts and handouts in my class. They are very thorough and very orthodox…Have great information . There are a couple of so called"Catholic .Bible Studies that are out there that are really a come on to a basically anti -Catholic view of scripture and church- but they are few and far between. Just reading a little of the information on a Catholic Bible Study site gives you an idea if it is orthodox or not… If it says anything negative about Mary or the primacy of Peter then you know that you are on a heterodox site that is ultra left or ultra right.Neither which is truly “Catholic”.

I’ve been using it at home and haven’t had any issues with them. Good stuff!

I’ve used it for years and found it incredibly insightful and spot on Catholic. I find commentary and historical background there that I cannot find anywhere else. Very well done website, IMO.

Excellent Catholic Bible study. Completely in line with Catholic doctrine. It references the Catechism which is essential in any Catholic Bible study… I am currently doing the Eight Last Things topical study. Look at the endorsements and you will see one from Scott Hahn. Also if you have a question you can email them and they will get back to you with answer.

Has anyone had trouble going on their site? I just tried to visit them and it asks for user name and password…

i have that occasional problem as well… if you have Facebook, go to facebook.com/AgapeCatholicBibleStudy/ and send a message to Michal Hunt… or use agapebiblestudy@comcast.net

i haven’t heard back from them yet, but i suggest you DO NOT go to www.agapebiblestudiesonline.org/ - agapebiblestudies@comcast.net as they are Protestant in presentation…

Michal Hunt presents his/their Catholic faith in their site… 🙂

Friend, can you give one or more examples of agapebiblestudies being “protestant” in their teachings?

Note the address and when you go to that address you will find that it says it is a nondenominational bible study. Be sure to go to the correct address to get the catholic bible study.
