Age and gender of Traditionalists

A suggestions would be to create a poll here on this forum. This would tell us how people, who self-identify as Traditionalist, are distributed by age and sex on this forum.

First we need to define what constitutes a traditionalist. I do not identify as Traditionalist but I am by no means a cafeteria Catholic.

There are different definitions. I guess one definition would be a Roman Catholic who adheres to the Catholic religion and Tridentine Mass as it was before Vatican II.

Am I a traditionalist if I attend Mass daily, wear a mantilla, receive communion on the tongue while kneeling, pray the Liturgy of the Hours and participate in Eucharistic Adoration, but cannot for one reason or another go to a Latin Mass?

Many people would say yes.

There have been so much discussion on CAF, and all futile, trying to define a traditionalist that I hesitate to add more. However since in my original post (and in #12) I was talking simply about those who post on CAF, I’ll offer another observation. It seems to me that those who self-identify as traditionalists here on CAF overwhelmingly prefer to attend the TLM, receive communion on the tongue while kneeling, and if female, wear a mantilla.

My observation is that attending daily Mass, praying the Liturgy of the Hours, and participating in Eucharistic Adoration are habits also found in many posters here who would not identify themselves as traditionalists.

So are you a traditionalist? I would say come up with your own definition of one, decide whether or not it applies to you, and more importantly be at peace with what IMHO sounds like an exemplary spiritual life.

Where do I fit in? I am very Traditional but not Latin Rite (Syriac Rite)… If not able to attend one of the Syriac Churches, I’d go Byzantine with English fully preferably or with some native English language mix. If rarely attending a Latin prefer the Novus Ordo celebrated ad orientum, with lots of Latin, priests not taking shortcuts, wearing the Gothic or Roman vestments (not polyester blend prints). If Novus Ordo traditional isn’t available on my rare visit, I may go TLM or settle for a typical NO but wouldn’t go exceptionally out of my way for the NO normally seen in a US parish.
