EF parishes are still subject to the Ordinary’s preference. So if he wants them done during high school, they’re done during high school.

Depends on the bishop.

In my diocese, the EF parish does 5th grade while the rest of the kids do 8th grade/freshman year of HS

When are children confirmed at EF parishes?
The age which children are confirmed or communioned has varied over the generations, but it wasn’t a change associated with liturgical reform in the 1960’s/70s

Greetings!

I’m not sure in particular about the EF, but Confirmation had been practiced in one liturgical setting in the west with Baptism until the 11th century or so. In the west, the bishop was the ordinary minister of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Because people were spread out it took time for the bishop to Baptize and Confirm infants in his “geographical” area. This caused a delay in the Confirmation of infants so they would end up being Confirmed a little while after their Baptism, whenever the bishop had the opportunity to be there. The eastern Churches, both Catholic and Orthodox, continue this tradition of Baptism and Confirmation together in one liturgical setting.

It wasn’t until around the turn of the century that children were Confirmed at a much later age in the west.

I know out of topic our parish isn’t EF but the parish confirms children around 11-12 years of age or 6th graders (we get slapped by the bishop le holy slap as we joke)

Keep in mind some traditional Catholics send children to be confirmed elsewhere. The Bishop of Madison offered Tridentine confirmations to anyone who sent his chancery the proper documents.

All children regardless of whether they attend EF or OF in my diocese can be confirmed as early as 3rd grade. Nearly all EF ones are, as we have “restored order” and confirmation is received before first Communion.
