I was thinking about “how we met” stories and they are so much fun to hear!

My fiance and I met a couple of times actually. I was best friends with his sister in high school and I was introduced to him during a play we were both in, (Seussical, if curious) I found him quite attractive to say the least. Then, we were both in her wedding as a bridesmaid and groomsman and I remember wishing I would get to be his walking partner (not the case). Finally, a teacher of mine and a friend of mine were talking about some guy named Tim and I asked “is that Rebekah’s cute brother?” followed by a lot of blushing on my part :o So the teacher mentioned that I said he was cute to him and next thing I knew we were going on a date! The rest is history lol

P.S. It turns out that while in high school their grandpa had told Rebekah that she should play matchmaker for us but she refused. Turns out she didn’t need to!

P.P.S Now that we are all adults my friend is very happy that I’m marrying her brother.

Now share yours!!!

In bed.

Ah, I knew that would get your attention.

I saw my DH of almost 33 years at a night club when one of the girls I was with screamed his name and threw her arms around him. Later she told me who he was.

Imagine my surprise when, at 2 a.m., he and a friend showed up at that girl’s apartment where I was staying for the weekend. They were dropping off another girl who was staying there for the weekend and since they had to go to the bathroom they came up.

He took one look at me curled up on the pull-out couch in the living room and walked over saying “How would you like a cold shower?” I yelled his name saying “If you want to die just touch these blankets.” Made him leave the apartment, dressed and then sat and talked until 5 a.m. By the time he left I’d decided to marry him and apparently he’d decided the same thing. He proposed 2 weeks later.

It took us 3 years to get to the altar, including two years apart while he trained with the military and I went to nursing school.

DH auditioned to play keyboards in my band… needless to say, he got the gig, and it has lasted 22 years 😃

We first met during a college orientation (though she doesn’t remember that one). Our second meeting was at the first football game of the season, which was a minor miracle because both of us hate football — I went because I could get points for one of my classes, and she went because her sorority required it of her. Our third meeting was at an open mic night I played in.

After talking for about two hours, she asked me to join the chorus of the theater production she was in. We ended up sitting next to each other. Things just went from there…We were married two years later.

Debbie and I ran in the same circle of people, but I only knew her casually.

Her best friend, told my best friend, that told me, she wanted me to call her. We married 2 years later, and this Advent season will celebrate 33 years.

We met through mutual friends. Met in fall of '94 at a party our friends threw. Knew each other very casually - kind of a “hi how are ya” at parties thrown by above mentioned friends. Shortly after we were both in their wedding in fall '97, we began talking a bit more, formed a very casual friendship. Turns out somewhere around March '98, he decided he wanted to ask me out. Took til June for him to get up the nerve, and even then, it was a double w/ our friends and he never truly “asked” me. It just sort of happened. The rest is history. 🙂

The funny thing about it all? Even though at the time we first met, he was absolutely not my type, I can tell you exactly what we were both wearing the night we first met, how my friend introduced us, the conversation we all had, etc.

awwwww…there all soo cute and picture perfect moments!!..
hopefully my mr. right will make some sort of interesting entrance…

Match.com, baby!!
I ‘talked’ to him on Match.com, and he organized a ‘meet and greet’ at one of our local restaurant/bars. I sweet-talked one of my friends into going with me that evening, and that’s all she wrote! He was so sweet, and super handsome, smart, blah, blah. I spent the entire evening talking to him.

3 years/ 3 children later … we’re having our validation ceremony next month!!

I met my h2b at college we were 16 and complete opposites - I was the ‘bad girl’ (supposedly) and he was a complete geek, but something must have worked because 6 years later we are engaged and getting ready to marry!

He was so nervous it was hillarious - he found out through his friend that I was interested in him and he came over to ask me out at a free period it went something like …

“would erm maybe you if you erm want like maybe to go to erm the cinema maybe if you want you dont have to”

He is still geeky but I love him!

Nathan and I went to college together, and we had a lot of friends in common but ran in different ciricles. He played football, and I was in a sorority. The two didn’t really mix.

I had met him a few times, and I always thought he was cute, but he is REALLY quiet…I am not. Finally, we had a whole bunch of classes together, because we were in the same major. Apparently he found me loud and a little too “stereotypical sorority girl,” but he thought I was cute.

We ended up in the same study group for one of the classes, and we made a bet that if either of us got 100% on the test they had to take the other out to dinner.

Nathan got the 100%, and he took me out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. The rest is history 🙂

My Mom introduced us

At least she can never complain about her daughter-in-law 😃

God Bless

My boyfriend and I met when we were seniors in high school, at a scholarship competition. We both ended up going to that college (yay Franciscan University of Steubenville!) but didn’t really run in the same circles. In November we went to a social for people who had been to the scholarship competition and we and some other people ended up talking for half the night. Shortly thereafter he asked for my IM (yes, we’re geeks) and soon we were typing away at long philosophical conversations.

By February (a year after we met) we were best friends but both of us had all kinds of reasons why it would never work for us to date. To make a very long story short, I figured out that I was in love with him and none of my reasons really mattered anymore, he discovered some new information which made him rethink his logic, and one day he arranges to meet me in the dorm lobby and says, “You know that list of reasons against something? I think it’s faulty.” Two days later (this conversation happened right before I left on a retreat) I told him I liked him. This was in April; it’s been over 5 months now and we laugh sometimes over how we used to think it would never work.

I love these! They are all so interesting and cute. and complicated! haha who knew it was so difficult to meet “the one”

I met my husband when I was on a blind date - with someone else!!!

I had met this guy through “Match.com” and somehow we got to talking online about Eastern Catholic churches. I’d never been to one, and he attended one regularly.

However, it was quite a distance from where I lived. He found out there was one closer to my neighborhood, and suggested we meet there and then go out for dinner.

We did - and when we got there and sat outside the church hall on the patio, this absolutely adorable-looking guy came out, looked at us, and sat down to chat with us. Turned out he was one of the cantors there, and knew a lot about the Eastern Rites.

In fact - he knew a lot more about them than my poor date! Plus, he had an uncanny resemblance to the actor Luke Wilson, and since I’d just recently had my hair dyed after seeing “Legally Blonde”, I kind of imagined myself as a chubbier Reese Witherspoon. So I felt instantly attracted to him!

Well, my date managed to get me away and we did go out to dinner. But the whole way through I kept thinking about that cute cantor, and comparing him to my poor blind date. Unfortunately, there was just no contest!

The following Sunday I attended the Divine Liturgy there, and continued doing so regularly - partly because I was attracted to the church itself, but mostly because … well, you know! 😉

It took three years of hard work but I finally got my “Luke Wilson” to the altar - and we’re still together! 👍

(Oh - and my husband later told me that he fell in love with me that very first time he saw me … all together now – aaaawwwwww!!! )

I was supposed to meet my boss at a club she worked at parttime and I was up at the bar drinking diet coke when this cute guy came and sat next to me. I totally ignored him until some really ehem… morally loose woman …ehem… bought him a drink and he just sat there and stared at it for about 10 minutes. Finally I turned and looked at him and said, “It isn’t a marriage proposal you know… you can drink it.” He started laughing and told me that he was meeting some guys from work but they stood him up… So I told him, me too and we just started chatting. He asked me out and I said no… we chatted some more, he asked me out again, I said no… he asked why, I told him he was too young for me…we talked some more, he asked if I would at least meet him for dinner tomorrow night… I caved. As for what we were talking about… his daughter, my kids, our ex’s, and I noticed he didn’t say anything bad about his ex and glowed when he talked about his daughter. We talked about church, faith, etc…

I was dating a good friends of his. It wasn’t serious, and he was moving away, so we were breaking things off. I met my now husband at the going away party, and we danced the night away. The guy who was departing thought it was a good match. lol My dh and I became friends for some time, before he asked me to marry him…but he said that first night we met…‘imagine if we got married?’ lol:eek: 😃

and we did.:blushing:

My wife and I met through a mutual friend, who was her first college roommate. The venue? Driving her choir director back to his house to pick up some music before Solemn Vespers followed by a Missa Solemnis that evening. It was almost three months before we saw each other again, but I made sure to audition for the Gregorian Schola that school year. As luck would have it I sat right across from her at Mass! We started going out to dinner together afterwards and struck up a great friendship.

Our first dates involved trips to the indult parish in Idaho and the Eastern Rite parish in the city, culminating in a three-day pilgrimage to an Eastern Catholic shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She got to stay with the sisters there (I was in a neighboring town at a hotel), and the nuns were kind enough to let me take meals with them. Over dinner I think one of them asked us when we planned to get married. 😛

There’s a lot that happened in between that point and our marriage, but five years later, my Catholic Nerdette and I are just shy of our one-year anniversary. 😃

Aww that is so sweet! My sister and her husband went on their first date to midnight mass at christmas time. I was only 3 so I don’t remember it but I love the story. They just celebrated their 14 year anniversary

We were both in the School of Education at Boston College, starting back in Fall, 1970 (eek!) We had several classes together, including “Faith, Reason and the Gospels”, taught by Fr. James Casey. Fr. Casey assigned us to work together on a project, bless his heart. I then started sitting next to future dh in World History, because we were now on a first name basis, of course. 😉 I invited him to a performance of the annual School of Education skits, in which I had a part, went to the cast party together afterwards, and that was that! We married a week after graduation, 34 years ago.

I love reading these types of stories!!

His sister thought that our personalities matched and gave me his number. I called him about a week later (Spring 2003) and we talked for a few hours. I decided that if he was interested in me he would call me back on his own. Weekly phone calls turned into friendship, turned into a meeting, turned into a ‘date’, turned into a relationship(Summer 2003)… ❤️ Before and during all this I was looking to convert and starting to attend RCIA. It was important to both of us to be equally yoked.

Engaged Christmas day 2004. Confirmed Easter 2005. Married summer 2005. Three years of marriage and a couple of babies later - i’m still getting that butterfly feeling when he walks in the room. I know this is who God meant for me.
