Hello. This is my first post and JW’s, among other things, is something I wanted to get other’s thoughts on. I work from home and they have picked up on this so, their visits is often. I’m having a hard time telling them that I’m not interested because I feel like I’m being rude. I know I can simply not answer but they know I am home. I put all info the trash. How can I tell them to stop?
Maybe try putting an obvious trash can next to the door - in plain sight. When they hand you their literature, simply take it and drop it into the trash can right in front of them…
A picture is worth a thousand words…

Or you might try placing a statue of the BVM in front of your house…I bit more expensive, but by what others have written, it seems to be effective.

Peace
James

I put a little plaque of the BVM on my door and surprise, surprise, I haven’t had any JWs since.

I’m very much the same way, especially because it’s usually the same couple that come knocking and they ARE nice people. What you can do is put up a sign on your door saying " Please, no solicitation, religious or otherwise, Thank you" That might take care of your situation.

Welcome to CAF Fab82!
I remember back when my husband had just come home from the hospital. He had been admitted for a heart attack. He was napping. I put a sign out.

“Please do not ring bell. Knock, only if it is an Emergency.”

They rang the bell. I went to the door and they started their spiel. I was dumbfounded. When they took a breath, I asked them if they knew how to read. 🤷 They admitted that they did, but couldn’t explain why they thought that their spiel was not only an emergency but enough of one to ring the bell.

I have to admit, I wasn’t very nice to them as I ordered them off of my property. :o

Interesting story…

One explanation would be that God is more important than anything.
Which of course is true.
However, their uncharitable act only served to demonstrate that they were not of God.

I saw someone posted that 7th Day Adventist also go door to door. My recently ex-boyfriend is an Adventist and told me they don’t go door to door (he seemed offended when I asked). I soon found out they do. It’s considered their community service (he said he doesn’t do it but others in the church do). He doesn’t want to talk about his religion so I did my own research and was blown away  but that another thread.
I could tell you a way that would guarantee they would never call back, but it would involve being somewhat economical with the truth. Tell them you were a JW and but have become Catholic. In this case, they are not allowed to call at your door or speak to you because you’ve become an ‘apostate.’ 😃

I have never thought of that. It could work. 👍

Interesting idea, but it is a sin to lie so I don’t think we should recommend this solution to anyone.

With all of the posts about putting a statue in the yard and such…I get this image of meeting them at the door with a crucifix held out in front of them like you are warding off a vampire…😃

Peace
James…

I think I scared off our JW visitors last time they called.

Admittedly I was an agnostic at the time but I was incredibly rude. They must have been ringing multiple doorbells at my group of flats. I was asleep as working nightshift but expecting an important delivery so jumped up and dashed for the door as my intercom doesn’t let me talk to the person calling. Anyway I open the door and mumble something about delivery and then noticed a Watchtower magazine in one of their hands. I think I muttered something like “you’re not the delivery” and before they could respond shut the door in their face. 😊

I am going to be nicer next time!

Crucifix in one hand, holy water in the other.

Open the door, splash the water with a hearty: “GOD BLESS YOU!”

Should handle the problem quite well.

Placing a crucifix on all the doors leading to the outside keeps away the JW’s LDS’ and vampires.

But I don’t think they want to hear the truth either.

“I think you belong to a cult and I hope there is someone on the outside trying to break you out.” :knight2:

I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual…

You are undoubtedly right. They would not wish to hear this either.
But since both would have the same effect, I think this harsh truth would be better than the other somewhat less harsh (to them) lie…

I guess I’m not the only one that got that little pamphlet for their presentation on Christ, which is on Holy Thursday. Sorry, but I’d rather attend one of the best Masses of the Church year.

Thanks for all of the good ideas. I will be sure to place something outside my door. 🙂

LOL ! I feel like doing that myself the next time JW’s come around my neighborhood and house! 😃

Wearing one around your neck has the same effect and if you happen to be praying The Rosary, you might have to call 9 -1 -1
