Is the weaaring of condoms outlawed, by the church. Between married couples , if one is suffering from aids?
 
No.

And why would a spouse want to play roulette by depending on a few microns of latex as a defense against a killer virus?

The failure rate of condoms is about 5%.
 
Condoms are not permitted even in the case of a spouse with HIV/AIDS.

Hey Seatuck, I’m betting you’re probably right knowing the Church and it’s many rules and regulations, but is there any documentation in the CCC or an encyclical or canon or something to back that up?
 
Thank you Seatuck…but could you please help me out? While it’s true, I skimmed through most of it, and may have missed it… I saw a lot of direction to lead a chaste lifestyle, to be monogomous, a lot of about how condoms are not completely effective against HIV, but I didn’t see where married people could not use condoms when one has HIV. Did you read that specifically in this document? I’m really looking for something very specific about people who are already married and use of condoms to protect against HIV…
 
I will vouch also that you cannot use condoms under any circumstance, including AIDS/HIV.
A chaste live that individual is called to. Unless they want to further endanger their spouse and children.

Use of a Condom is the Sin of Onanism.

The use of condoms is FORBIDDEN to prevent pregancy or disease.
If one of a married couple has AIDS or any other disease they cannot use a condom to stop the other catching the disease. They must abstain from sexual contact.
 
So, I’m assuming that no one else can come up with a statement from the Vatican saying that even married people may not use condoms if one has a communicable disease.

I’ll keep looking. And I’ll ask my priest. It’s always good information to have.

I found an artlicle about people protesting the Church teaching on this. It contained:
In a 2003 Vatican document titled Family Values Versus Safe Sex, the use of condoms in HIV-prevention programs was forcefully rejected:

The Catholic bishops of South Africa, Botswana, and Swaziland categorically regard the widespread and indiscriminate promotion of condoms as an immoral and misguided weapon in our battle against HIV/AIDS for the following reasons. The use of condoms goes against human dignity. Condoms change the beautiful act of love into a selfish search for pleasure-while rejecting responsibility. Condoms do not guarantee protection against HIV/AIDS. Condoms may even be one of the main reasons for the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo, head of the Pontifical Council for the Family, has elaborated on the latter point: “In the case of the AIDS virus, which is around 450 times smaller than the sperm cell, the condom’s latex material obviously gives much less security… to talk of condoms as ‘safe sex’ is a form of Russian roulette.” Cardinal Trujillo called on ministries of health to require “a warning, that the condom is not safe” on packages distributed worldwide.

And condoms have about 13%-16% failure rate, not counting Risk Compensation, so it’s not like they’d do an effective job.
 
The question of “can a couple use a condom to prevent disease” is a logical fallacy of innapropriate appeal to emotion.

The only legitimate question is “is it sinful or not to use a condom?” The circumstances (in this case, disease) are an irrelevant attempt to obfuscate the issue at hand.

It is mortally sinful to contradict the Will of God in every circumstance, regardless of what the bleeding-hearts will try to convince you of.

Interesting quote. The notion of “many believe set the tone for the AIDS crisis” is a logical fallacy of false cause. The liberals will stop at nothing to blame the Church for peoples actions.

Yup, I’m in total agreement with you there. People these days are totally unwilling to accept the consequences of their actions, and as a result lash out.
