Airfares??

Sheesh . . . I just booked a flight to Seattle. I started out going for an airfare/ rental car combo on Orbitz or Cheaptickets, but by the time I confirmed the dates with my son, the prices went up. (I used different computers to check prices)

It ended up being more economical to book directly w/ the airline and rental car companies.

So much for discount airfare sites . . . 🤷
 
The only place I have found savings is using a discount travel site for hotel rooms.
 
A few years ago I got a good price on flights to Rome using Travelocity. The last few times I’ve travelled, the airline websites have been best.
 
Do you have Air Tran? Or a similar low cost airline? It has saved us thousands traveling between here and home. They don’t have any extras and you usually have one layover. But they are very safe, the staff is friendly, and last time we checked they still allow two bags free. 👍

AirTran had no available flights on the dates I wanted. 🤷 I wonder if they’re cutting back.

Southwest has lots on flights out of Baltimore, but they cost more than Delta. Had I booked months ago, it probably would have been less.

I thought $250 on Delta wasn’t bad. The rental car was $81 for a week. Of course, by the time they tacked on 6 additional fees :eek:, it came to $148. Still, not bad for unlimited mileage for almost a week.

I know to get the best discounts you need to book about 3+ weeks ahead of time. As for the number of flights, they have lots more on the weekends. Less during the week. Some days I remember them only having like two or three. I sure hope they aren’t cutting back. It’s my lifeline between here and home.
