I just came across this beautiful rendition of the Akathist Hymn to the Mother of God (Theotokos) and felt like blessing CAF with it.

An akathist hymn corresponds roughly to the Western novena.

Honestly now - how could anybody watch this and still think Russia has not been converted?

Russia has been converted from her godless ways and is now a bastion of the Orthodox Catholic Faith.

Amen. Their revolution tried to abolish the faith. They murdered the priests, the monks, the nuns. They tried to destroy the churches. But in the hearts of the prayerful people, the light never failed. When allowed to worship again, the flame intensified.

I am confused and perplexed by those few traditionalist Roman Catholics who hold that Russia still needs to be consecrated. I know many Russian Orthodox. Just met another, who smiled when she saw my Miraculous Medal. We hold sister faiths, even though they do not recognize our Patriarch (Pope). I respect and admire their clinging to the ancient faith better than modernist Catholics.

Probably because they are ignorant of history and the fact that Russia has ALWAYS been Orthodox Catholic/Byzantine Rite since the 10th century, long before the great East-West schism.

Romaphilia and thinking anything besides traditional Roman Catholic is not Catholic also plays a part in this misguided thought process.

Russia has been consecrated to Our Lady since 1984, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary prevailed over the godless commies 7 years later in A.D. 1991, and now in 2018 Russia is one of the largest bastions of Orthodox Catholic Faith on earth.
