A few years ago, Alan Keyes came to Pensacola and spoke at the largest Southern Baptist church in the city. It was not a worship service, no music just an opening prayer and his introduction. He can to the pulpit, opened his bible (telling us to open ours) read Isaiah 1. Best talk, sermon I ever heard in that pulpit.
It was a great opportunity for protestants to see a devout Catholic Christian and many sterotypes were broken for some by what he did. I also found out that God has a sense of humor using a Catholic “preaching” in a Baptist Church to call men to vocations. Though it was not the purpose of Mr. Keyes, it was part of God’s purpose. From that church service I know of some families who eventually came into communion, sterotypes broken, and several young men going into vocations.
Oh yes, most of the baptist thought he was a Baptist by the way he spoke and were shocked he was/is catholic. I hope Mr. Keyes has many more opportunities to speak.
