At your church, do the altar boys wear albs at Mass or do the altar boys wear cassocks and surplices?
Ditto here.Altar Servers wear cassock & surplice. Acolytes wear albs.
Father, I was never an altarboy but the parish I grew up in used the cassock & surplice and alternated between red and black like your parish. Today, they use nice Albs, which started a few years after they started allowing altar girls. Though my baby sister - who was among the first altar girls at the parish - wore a red cassock & surplice only. Our altar boys wear cassock & surplice. We alternate red and black depending on the season or the occasion.
They don’t wear either at my parish. At your church, do the altar boys wear albs at Mass or do the altar boys wear cassocks and surplices?
I don’t know the history.Father, I was never an altarboy but the parish I grew up in used the cassock & surplice and alternated between red and black like your parish. My question: what’s the history of the red cassock and what seasons does your parish (and most others that alternate) use the red cassock? Also, does your parish have altargirls or just altar boys?
God Bless!
