Even if I wanted to, the booze I like costs WAY too much to get drunk with!
That’s my theory… 😉

And Jack Daniels has the colossal NERVE to bill itself as “sippin’ whiskey”!!
Yeah… Especially since they lowered the proof!

But it still hits the spot…

From a sociological standpoint, we are compelled by incontrovertible evidence to acknowledge that it is of all causes the most frequent source of poverty, unhappiness, divorce, suicide, immorality, crime, insanity, disease, and death.
Sounds like a cart and horse thing to me

Remember correlation is not causality

I mean, obviously. It’s sometimes the cause of those things and sometimes the result. I just like how the Catholic Encyclopedia says it so bluntly.

I guess, I just don’t see the point of alcohol. If you’re not supposed to get drunk, what’s the point? I mean, I can see wine with dinner because I’ve heard it enhances flavor and stuff. Also I can see wine for health (it’s good for blood pressure right?). And I guess if you really love the taste of beer that’s ok (but nobody I’ve ever met would drink beer if it tasted the same but with no alcohol).

I guess my question is, what’s the point of drinking socially?

It allows man to digress

The world is a hard place and we work hard all the time

By the sweat of our brows and all that…a legacy of the Fall

But God gave us this thing to help us

What is wrong with sitting with your friends and.….digressing?

Beer has been part of some of my most meditative, spiritual moments.

The craftsmanship of making my own

Working with the seasons to determine what and how I brew

Learning about how peoples in different parts of the world used what was available to them

That is the whole point…enjoying this great gift and not getting drunk; just maintaining the buzz. Only amateurs get drunk

Haha, I guess I’m just not into buzzes. It’s too bad many people don’t have your approach to it though. I guess coming from college recently I didn’t see much but blatant abuse so my viewpoint is a bit skewed.
