Please pray for my friend battling alcoholism. He is miserable with drink and yet still searching for God in his disbelief. He needs to be lead to the Transfiguration. Pray that God release him.
 
What is his/her name so we mention him in prayer? addiction is terrible :mad:
 
His name is David. He feels tormented now but I can see God beginning his great work in him. Thank you.

Call Alcoholics Anonymous. They will send someone to speak with him. If this fails you might have to wait until he reaches his bottom. Other than comitting him there isn’t much left to do except pray.
 
Father, we pray for David and ask
you to help him in his quest to give up alcohol.
Guide him to AA and help him to stay with
the program. Give him the strength to resist
this desire to drink. We ask all of this in the
name of Jesus!

Venerable Matt Talbot, please pray for David so he may find God and have the strength and grace to take the steps needed in his recovery from alcoholism. I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

If ya feel he needs someone to talk to someone he can message me. I was pretty much as far gone as ya can get with alcohol. AA does wonders for a lot. It took God to. help me overcome it, and I’m still struggling. Its something we will always struggle with.
 
What a kind friend you are to reach out in David’s behalf. May the healing power of the Holy Spirit surround David and may God lead David to people that can reach out to him in love and comfort. Many, many people are afflicted by this terrible disease of alcoholism. For myself, I was in Al-Anon for many years because alcoholism affected me and my life in many ways. Reach out to Al-Anon…they are a powerful group that can help you and others that love David.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Thank you all for your prayers and supportive words. He is resistant to AA at the present time and I find myself challenged to leave it in God’s hands. David wants to believe but is holding out for a sign. I know that God picked me up and turned my life around so I believe in the miracle of waking up to God. Please continue to pray for him-- as confused as he is about God he appreciates prayer. God bless you all. Kate
