Please pray that the Lord will help me overcome my alcoholism! I’ve tried so hard for the last few years to overcome this curse from Satan, but I have not been able to. I quit 2 years ago for 6 months and felt fantastic, but I went back and I can’t figure out why!!!

Please pray for me…

Praying. Remember, every day is a new day to try again. God bless you!
“O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You”

Are you attending AA meetings frequently? Do you have a sponsor?

What about your “people, places and things”? Have you changed them?

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom to overcome your temptations.

Are you an AA member? If not you should consider
contacting them. You are in my prayers.

:signofcross:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is
in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive
us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
against us, and lead us not into temptation but
deliver us from evil.
Amen

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our
defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him we humbly pray, and do thou
O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God,
cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl
throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen

Amen, amen! I’m in a 12-step program & it really is very Catholic. A good friend of Bill W. was Fr. Ed Dowling, S.J. He compared the 12 steps to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.

Here’s an article to read about him:

Those who promised to pray and those who recommended AA are both are the right track as far as giving valuable advice. A 12 step program can be highly effective because it starts with the premise that addiction to alcohol is like a disease which can be treated, if, one follows the suggestions offered. Their opening statement “Rarely have we seen someone fail…” , which means that if you are honest with yourself you can beat alcoholism one day at a time which can add up to years of being at peace and being reasonably happy.

Could God perform a miracle and cure you of Alcoholism? Of course but He has already provided a miracle in a program that works because others care about those who still suffer. They make it work for themselves and everyone else who cares to follow in their trudging footsteps of success.

Starters start simple. Sometimes simple is all someone can cope with. Often one’s concept of God will modify or change the longer they stay with a 12-step program such as AA or NA. Many people have a distorted concept of God because of how they may have been brought up, but God is very patient and AA members will “love” the beginner back to health until they can begin to like and ultimately love themselves like God loves us… unconditionally.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

May God take away your cravings for alcohol and desire to drink and enable you to recover with the support of others that care.
Mary.

Praying that the Lord may strengthen you with all necessary graces in order to overcome alcoholism.

Lord Jesus,You said,
“I have come to set the captives free.”
We are captive and need Your healing touch.
Free us, Lord, from our addictions,
so that we will be:
…free from the cares and worries that stifle our happiness;
…free from sins that cling to us, and to which we cling;
…free from all compulsive behavior
that prevents us from becoming what You, Lord,
have planned for us.
Bring us, loving Savior,
to the experience of abundant life
which You promised.

Amen.

May God bless you with the strength and courage to stop drinking. Praying for you to be healed completely.

NOVENA PRAYER TO REDUCE OR STOP DRINKING ALCOHOL
(This prayer is to be recited on nine consecutive
days.)

Behold me, O my God, at thy feet!
I do not deserve mercy, but O, my Redeemer, the blood which thou hast shed for me encourages me and obliges me to hope for it.

How often have
I offended thee, repented, and yet have I again fallen and been drinking too much.

O my God, I wish to amend, and in order to be faithful to thee, I will place all my confidence in thee. I will, whenever I am tempted, instantly have recourse to thee.

Hitherto, I have trusted in my own promises and resolutions and have neglected to recommend myself to thee in my temptations. This has been the cause of my repeated failures.

From this day forward, be thou, O Lord, my strength, and thus shall I be able to do all things, for “I can do all things in Him who strengtheneth me”.
Amen.

Ven. Matt Talbot, pray for us!
