Would like to ask for your prayers. I’ve been alienated. I realized it’s not just now, this has been going on for a long time. I am also looking for a job, applying to several co., but the results have been disappointing. ONly a few called, and they are the jobs I can’t take, even though, yes, I applied for them. but i can’t take those jobs.

i don’t even feel like prayin and lately haven’t been going to mass. there are friends that I want to keep in touch with. but one isn’t responding, the other I can’t reach. I feel sad. Even here on the forums, i can’t have friends.

I will pray for you. I think I can relate in several ways. Try not to isolate yourself – go to Mass, go out, even if you don’t want to. (I definitely understand about the unresponsive friends, though!)

Lord we pray for Fin that he may find a job soon. Let him feel your love in the circumstances of his life right now. Be his refuge in sorrow, his light in the midst of darkness, his hope in times of despair and his Friend when he feels alone. This we was through the intercession of the Blessed Mother in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen

Don’t ever NOT go to mass. Just a bad idea. Get on your hands and knees and crawl if need be. My eucharistic adoration, rosary prayers and other practices have faded in and out but the Mass is something that has been inviolate. All the other stuff can be cultivated. The Mass isn’t one of those things. You will seriously hurt yourself by not going.

Sadness: before you go on the happy pills, see if your sadness is not derived from your spirituality. Kathleen Norris wrote a great book called Acedia & Me. I have some reading selections here, see if it doesn’t sound familiar.

Job hunting? Try reading by Donald Westlake*The Ax *, Catholic author and humorist. Please don’t follow the solution the character in the book takes…

I’m going to be redundant at the end of the year. Boss told me he wants to be “transparent.” I can’t tell you how much this affects me and no words anyone could say will make it any different – it cuts through the very heart of me. I’m simply not made for this world of off-again on-again employment. The only love I have felt in the last four years has been that of Jesus Christ and the Eucharist (I converted in 2006).
