I have to admit that I barely ever think about this topic… but sometimes it comes up in conversations, so I thought i’d ask - what’s the Catholic view of aliens? do they exist? thanks 🙂

I believe the Vatican just had a big meeting concerning extraterrestrial life, and I believe that they said it was okay, in terms of Catholic theology, for aliens to exist. I’m no expert, though, I just saw an interview on the Colbert Report with a priest who talked about the meeting, and the impact that extraterrestrial life would have on Catholic theology.

I’m sure someone else can give you better info though.

I’m not aware that there’s a “Catholic” view on this subject; I imagine that we are free to believe in their existance or not.

I’m not aware of any credible evidence that they exist, nor am I aware of any that they don’t. So I have no opinion on the matter.

The individual may or may not choose to believe in extraterrestrial life.

Nobody can answer you on the existence of aliens. So far no evidence exists of aliens despite the lunatic fringe who say they have been abducted!!
Whether life exists elsewhere is simply speculation and anyone (and that includes Catholics) is free to believe it does or not.

I believe the only position that has been taken on the subject is to say that if there are other life forms, they too would be somehow offered the grace of salvation by Jesus’ once-for-all sacrifice. But I don’t know, now, where I read that, so can’t document it.🤷
