Starting today, June 1, I will be posting quotes and articles on the Divine Mercy on this new forum thread instead of on our thread “All About the Jubilee Year of Mercy”.

See forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=990231.

Most of the quotes will be from the Diary of St. Faustina “DIVINE MERCY IN MY SOUL” and from the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception.

You are welcome to share with us any quote or article you find helpful. Thanks.

I WAIT FOR SOULS.

Meditation:

**Oh, how painful it is to Me that souls so seldom unite themselves to Me in Holy Communion. I wait for souls, and they are indifferent toward Me. I love them tenderly and sincerely, and they distrust Me. I want to lavish My graces on them, and they do not want to accept them. They treat Me as a dead object, whereas My Heart is full of love and mercy **(Diary, 1447).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, help me and all who receive You in Holy Communion to grow in greater trust and love, so we may receive You more tenderly. Lavish Your graces out upon us. May our communion with You truly be a “common — union — in — Christ” and give You great joy.

Diary of St. Faustina - 1313

I understand that mercy is manifold; one can do good always and everywhere and at all times. An ardent love of God sees all around itself constant opportunities to share itself through deed, word and prayer.

AS A DEAD OBJECT

Meditation:
**I desire to unite Myself with human souls; My great delight is to unite Myself with souls. Know, My daughter, that when I come to a human heart in Holy Communion, My hands are full of all kinds of graces which I want to give to the soul. But souls do not even pay any attention to Me; they leave Me to Myself and busy themselves with other things. Oh, how sad I am that souls do not recognize Love! They treat Me as a dead object **(Diary, 1385).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, I desire to unite myself with You in every Holy Communion and receive all Your graces with fervor. I want to be attentive to You. May my fervor compensate for those who treat You as a dead object!
(Diary pages with bolded words are Jesus speaking.)

Diary of St. Faustina - 1804

The most solemn moment of my life is the moment when I receive Holy Communion. I long for each Holy Communion, and for every Holy Communion I give thanks to the Most Holy Trinity. If the angels were capable of envy, they would envy us for two things: one is the receiving of Holy Communion, and the other is suffering.

SOULS WHO LOVE ME DEARLY

Meditation:

**To comfort you, let Me tell you that there are souls living in the world who love Me dearly. I dwell in their hearts with delight. But they are few. In convents too, there are souls that fill My Heart with joy. They bear My features; therefore the Heavenly Father looks upon them with special pleasure **(Diary, 367).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, thank You for telling me that there are souls who live in the world and love You. In Your great mercy, raise up many more souls to love You and give joy to Your Heart. May I be one of them!
(Diary pages with bolded words are Jesus speaking.)

Diary of St. Faustina - 91

Every morning during meditation, I prepare myself for the whole day’s struggle. Holy Communion assures me that I will win the victory; and so it is. I fear the day when I do not receive Holy Communion. This Bread of the Strong gives me all the strength I need to carry on my mission and the courage to do whatever the Lord asks of me.

DELIGHT MY HEART

Meditation:

Then I heard a voice in my soul: **Do not cry; I am not suffering any more. And for the faithfulness with which you accompanied Me in My sufferings and death, your own death will be a solemn one, and I will accompany you in that last hour. Beloved pearl of My Heart, I see your love so pure, purer than that of the angels, and all the more so because you keep fighting. For your sake I bless the world. I see your efforts to please Me, and they delight My Heart.
**
After these words, I wept no more, but thanked the heavenly Father for having sent us His Son and for the work of the Redemption of mankind (Diary, 1061).

My Prayer Response:

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for sending us Your Son for the Redemption of mankind. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for raising up St. Faustina, a pearl of Your Heart, to tell us the good news of Your mercy. Now, may we tell the world of Your mercy and delight Your Heart!
(Diary pages with bolded words are Jesus speaking.)

Diary of St. Faustina - 1826

When my strength begins to fail, it is Holy Communion that will sustain me and give me strength. Indeed, I fear the day on which I would not receive Holy Communion. My soul draws astonishing strength from Holy Communion.

FIXED ON MY HOLY WILL

Meditation:

I want the eyes of your soul to be always fixed on My holy will, since it is in this way that you will please Me most. No sacrifices can be compared to this. Throughout all the exercises you will remain close to My Heart. You shall not undertake any reforms, because I will dispose of your whole life as I see fit. The priest who will preach the retreat will not speak a single word which will trouble you (Diary, 1327).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, with my spiritual eyes, I want to be always fixed on Your holy will. And help me to remain close to Your Heart. May Your will, not mine, be done.
(Diary pages with bolded words are Jesus speaking.)

Diary of St. Faustina - 1747

On leaving the earth, O Lord, You wanted to stay with us, and so You left us Yourself in the Sacrament of the Altar, and You opened wide Your mercy to us. There is no misery that could exhaust You; You have called us all to this fountain of love, to this spring of God’s compassion. Here is the tabernacle of Your mercy, here is the remedy for all our ills. To You, O living spring of mercy, all souls are drawn.

YOU ARE IN MY HEART

Meditation:

During Vespers, I heard these words: My daughter, I want to repose in your heart, because many souls have thrown Me out of their hearts today. I have experienced sorrow unto death. I tried to comfort the Lord, by offering Him my love a thousand times over. I felt, within my soul, a great disgust for sin (Diary, 866).

During prayer, I heard these words: My daughter, let your heart be filled with joy. I, the Lord, am with you. Fear nothing. You are in My heart. At that moment, I knew the great majesty of God, and I understood that nothing could be compared with one single perception of God. Outward greatness dwindles like a speck of dust before one act of a deeper knowledge of God (Diary, 1133).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, I welcome You into my heart. May my heart be a consolation to You today as You fill me with Your joy.

JOINING IN PRAYER WITH JOHN PAUL II

Meditation:

As I was praying for Poland, I heard the words: **I bear a special love for Poland, and if she will be obedient to My will, I will exalt her in might and holiness. From her will come forth the spark that will prepare the world for My final coming **(Diary, 1732).

My Prayer Response with St. John Paul II:

Pope John Paul II on the occasion of the dedication of the Basilica of The Divine Mercy in Krakow, Poland, August 17, 2002, also entrusted the world to The Divine Mercy. In his reflections, he quoted the above text of the Diary of St. Faustina about “the spark” that needs to be lighted by the grace of God — a fire of mercy that needs to be passed on to the world (see John Paul II: The Great Mercy Pope, pp. 211-213). In that light, let us join with John Paul II in praying: “May the binding promise of the Lord Jesus be fulfilled. From here there must go forth the spark that will prepare the world for My final coming.”

“Eternal life must begin already here on earth through Holy Communion”

But I want to tell you that eternal life must begin already here on earth through Holy Communion. Each Holy Communion makes you more capable of communing with God throughout eternity”. And so, my King, I do not ask You for anything, although I know that You can give me everything. I ask You for one thing only: remain forever the King of my heart; that is enough for me.

IN THE DEPTHS OF YOUR HEART

Meditation:

I will tell you most when you converse with Me in the depths of your heart. Here, no one can disturb My actions. Here, I rest as in a garden enclosed (Diary, 581).

When you reflect upon what I tell you in the depths of your heart, you profit more than if you had read many books. Oh, if souls would only want to listen to My voice when I am speaking in the depths of their hearts, they would reach the peak of holiness in a short time (Diary, 584).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, teach me. Help me to listen to You as You speak to me in the depths of my heart. Like St. Faustina, help me to become holy as You form my heart to become like Yours.
(Diary pages with bolded words are Jesus speaking.)

Diary of St. Faustina - 1240

I have come to know the great intimacy which exists between Jesus and the priest. Jesus defends whatever the priest says, and often complies with his wishes, and sometimes makes His own relationship with a soul depend on the priest’s advice. O Jesus, through a special grace, I have come to know very clearly to what extent You have shared Your power and mystery with them, more so than with the Angels. I rejoice in this, for it is all for my good.

GIVE US GRATEFUL HEARTS

Meditation:

On a certain occasion, the Lord said to me,** I am more deeply wounded by the small imperfections of chosen souls than by the sins of those living in the world.** It made me very sad that chosen souls make Jesus suffer, and Jesus told me, These little imperfections are not all. I will reveal to you a secret of My Heart: what I suffer from chosen souls. Ingratitude in return for so many graces is My Heart’s constant food, on the part of [such] a chosen soul. Their love is lukewarm, and My Heart cannot bear it; these souls force Me to reject them (Diary, 580).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, forgive the imperfections, the ingratitude, and lukewarm love of souls You have chosen! I beg You have mercy on them and all of us sinners—and bring us to repentance so that we may not continue to make You suffer.

DO NOT DESPISE GOD’S GRACES

Meditation:

**There are souls who despise My graces as well as all the proofs of My love. They do not wish to hear My call, but proceed into the abyss of hell. The loss of these souls plunges Me into deadly sorrow. God though I am, I cannot help such a soul because it scorns Me; having a free will, it can spurn Me or love Me. You, who are the dispenser of My mercy, tell all the world about My goodness, and thus you will comfort My Heart **(Diary, 580).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, help all apostles of Divine Mercy to reach souls who despise Your graces and proofs of Your love. Help us to save souls from choosing the abyss of hell—and so comfort Your Heart.
(Diary pages with bolded words are Jesus speaking.)

Diary of St. Faustina - 1475

The sanctity or the fall of each individual soul has an effect upon the whole Church. Observing myself and those who are close to me, I have come to understand how great an influence I have on other souls, not by any heroic deeds, as these are striking in themselves, but by small actions like a movement of the hand, a look, and many other things.

THE SPIRIT OF LOVE

Meditation:

March 1, 1937. The Lord gave me to know how displeased He is with a talkative soul. I find no rest in such a soul. The constant din tires Me, and in the midst of it the soul cannot discern My voice (Diary, 1008).

Why are You sad today, Jesus? Tell me, who is the cause of Your sadness? And Jesus answered me, **Chosen souls who do not have My spirit, who live according to the letter **[cf. 2 Cor. 3:6] and have placed the letter above My spirit, above the spirit of love.

I have founded My whole law on love, and yet I do not see love, even in religious orders. This is why sadness fills My Heart
(Diary, 1478).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, help us to discern Your voice within and live according to the spirit of love, so that Your Heart may be filled with joy. We pray for chosen souls who place the letter above Your spirit of love.
