THE POWERS OF DARKNESS FLEE

Meditation:

When I entered the chapel for a moment, the Lord said to me,** My daughter, help Me to save a certain dying sinner. Say the chaplet that I have taught you for him.** When I began to say the chaplet, I saw the man dying in the midst of terrible torment and struggle. His Guardian Angel was defending him, but he was, as it were, powerless against the enormity of the soul’s misery. A multitude of devils was waiting for the soul. But while I was saying the chaplet, I saw Jesus just as He is depicted in the image. The rays which issued from Jesus’ Heart enveloped the sick man, and the powers of darkness fled in panic. The sick man peacefully breathed his last. When I came to myself, I understood how very important the chaplet was for the dying. It appeases the anger of God (Diary, 1565).

My Prayer Response:

Lord, thank You for the power of The Divine Mercy Chaplet for the dying, especially to defend them against the powers of darkness. When I am dying, Lord, defend me against the Evil One.

IN A GREAT STORM

Meditation:

Today I was awakened by a great storm. The wind was raging, and it was raining in torrents, thunderbolts striking again and again. I began to pray that the storm would do no harm, when I heard the words: Say the chaplet I have taught you, and the storm will cease. I began immediately to say the chaplet and hadn’t even finished it when the storm suddenly ceased, and I heard the words: **Through the chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My will **(Diary, 1731).

My Prayer Response:

Thank You, Jesus, for teaching us to use the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for a variety of needs. What amazing promises You have made about our praying it.

MY INCONCEIVABLE MERCY

Meditation:

Jesus said to me with kindness, My daughter, speak to priests about this inconceivable mercy of Mine. The flames of mercy are burning Me — clamoring to be spent; I want to keep pouring them out upon souls; souls just don’t want to believe in My goodness (Diary, 177).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, give priests a special grace to hear the word of Your inconceivable mercy and to proclaim it to people in need. May distrustful souls come to believe in Your goodness as they hear it proclaimed.

MY GREATEST ATTITUDE

Meditation:

Proclaim that mercy is the greatest attribute of God. All the works of My hands are crowned with mercy (Diary, 301).

Everything that you say about My goodness is true; language has no adequate expression to extol My goodness (Diary, 359).

My Prayer Response:
Lord Jesus, help me to express and articulate clearly Your goodness. How can I speak of Your greatest attribute of mercy without Your grace? Fill me then, so I can proclaim Your mercy.

Sharing this reflection on DIVINE MERCY, from the Euchalette, April 23, 2017, Divine Mercy Sunday, P.4.:

"TRUSTING CHRIST’S DIVINE MERCY"

"St. Faustina Kowalska was a Polish nun who died on October 5, 1938 at only 33 years of age. She had lived a very simple life proclaiming an extremely simple message: the Heart of Jesus is overflowing with divine mercy toward sinners and wants all to come to him with trust-filled love.

This invitation is powerfully expressed in the classic painting of the Risen Christ, which an artist executed under the guidance of Sr. Faustina herself who, on 22 February 1931, had seen him with red and pale rays of light emanating from his chest. Those rays of light recalled the blood and water that flowed down from the pierced heart of Christ on the cross and symbolized the inexhaustible richness of his merciful love made present and available to all through the Sacraments.

Jesus himself had instructed Sr. Faustina to have the sentence “JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU” written at the bottom of that painting. This sentence expresses the response of humble faith on the part of the sinner to the endless mercy with which God views mankind and constantly brings about the salvation of the world."

"TRUSTING CHRIST’S DIVINE MERCY" - continued:

"This is the mercy that brought God’s Son to become a human being and to give his life on the cross for all sinners. This is also the same mercy that led the Risen Christ to go in search of his disciples the very day he rose from death, to reassure them of his forgiving love.** No revenge** for having been deserted by them right when he needed their allegiance most, but only the gifts of his peace and comforting presence. No bitterness against the doubting Thomas who persisted in rejecting the witness of his companions, **but only patient understanding for his weakness, and a tender desire to arouse in him faith in the Resurrection. **

** “My Lord and my God!”** exclaimed the bewildered apostle as he felt himself inundated by the love of the Man-God who had only words of mercy and forgiveness for him.

“Jesus, remember me when you enter into your reign!” had been the earnest plea of the man being executed with him on Calvary as he viewed his life as a total failure and Jesus’ mercy as his only hope. And he was not disappointed."

“Jesus, have mercy on me. I trust in you!” is the expression of complete self-surrender which all of us should address to our Savior as we realize our unworthiness and our need to be forgiven. **What can save us from the devastating consequences of our sins is only God’s merciful love. **

And this is what we implore, in all humility and confidence, not only on this Second Sunday of Easter, but throughout our lives, until our last moments.** Like the repentant thief dying on a cross, side by side with the Innocent Victim, we place all our trust in Jesus, the King of Divine Mercy.** (Euchalette, April 23, 2017, Divine Mercy Sunday, p. 4.)
 
Prayer for the Grace to Be Merciful to Others

O Most Holy Trinity!
As many times as I breathe,
as many times as my heart beats,
As many times as my blood pulsates through my body,
so many thousand times do I want to glorify Your mercy.

I want to be completely transformed into Your mercy
And to be your living reflection, O Lord.
May the greatest of all Divine attributes,
that of Your unfathomable Mercy,
pass through my heart and soul to my neighbor.

Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful,
so that I may never suspect or judge from appearances,
but always look for what is beautiful
in my neighbor’s souls
and come to their rescue.

Help me, that my ears may be merciful,
so that I may give heed to my neighbor’s needs,
and not be indifferent to their pains and moanings.

Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful,
so that I should never speak negatively of others,
but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all.

Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful
and filled with good deeds,
so that I may do only good to my neighbors
and always try to take upon myself
the more difficult and toilsome tasks.

Help me, O Lord, that my feet may be merciful,

ROUSE OTHERS TO LOVE ME.

Meditation:

I heard a voice within my soul.** I am very pleased that you had not been talking with Me, but were making My goodness known to souls and rousing them to love Me **(Diary, 404).

Tell the world about My mercy and My love (Diary, 1074).

My Prayer Response:

Dear Jesus, teach me and all apostles of Divine Mercy to tell the world about Your mercy and love — and rouse them to love You! May the whole world come to know of Your mercy.

SPECIAL DEVOTION TO MY MERCY

Meditation:

The flames of mercy are burning Me. I desire to pour them out upon human souls. Oh, what pain they cause Me when they do not want to accept them!

**My daughter, do whatever is within your power to spread devotion to My mercy. I will make up for what you lack. Tell aching mankind to snuggle close to My merciful Heart, and I will fill it with peace **(Diary, 1074).

Lord Jesus, help me and all apostles of Divine Mercy to tell aching mankind of Your great desire to pour out Your mercy upon human souls and for them to snuggle close to Your merciful Heart.

REFRESH THIS HEART OF MINE

Meditation:

The Lord said to me, My daughter, do not tire of proclaiming My mercy. In this way you will refresh this Heart of Mine, which burns with a flame of pity for sinners. Tell My priests that hardened sinners will repent on hearing their words when they speak about My unfathomable mercy, about the compassion I have for them in My Heart. To priests who proclaim and extol My mercy, I will give wondrous power; I will anoint their words and touch the hearts of those to whom they will speak (Diary, 1521).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, I want to refresh Your Heart by unfailingly proclaiming Your mercy. Thank You for empowering Your priests with anointed words of mercy that touch the hearts of the people. Remind me, Lord, to pray for priests that they would not stint in proclaiming Your mercy.

AT THAT MOMENT, MERCY WAS OPENED WIDE

Meditation:

I remind you, My daughter, that as often as you hear the clock strike the third hour, immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it; invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners; for at that moment mercy was opened wide for every soul. In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking; it was the hour of grace for the whole world — mercy triumphed over justice (Diary, 1572).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, remind me to immerse myself in the ocean of Your mercy at the three o’clock hour, adoring and glorifying Your great mercy and invoking Your mercy on the whole world so very much in need of mercy. May I and all apostles of Divine Mercy “get the three o’clock habit”!

WAYS TO PRAY AT THREE O’CLOCK

Meditation:

My daughter, try your best to make the Stations of the Cross in this hour, provided that your duties permit it; and if you are not able to make the Stations of the Cross, then at least step into the chapel for a moment and adore, in the Blessed Sacrament, My Heart, which is full of mercy; and should you be unable to step into the chapel, immerse yourself in prayer there where you happen to be, if only for a very brief instant. I claim veneration for My mercy from every creature, but above all from you, since it is to you that I have given the most profound understanding of this mystery (Diary, 1572).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, You so desire that we take advantage of the Hour of Great Mercy that You offer us a variety of ways to venerate Your mercy. Help us to draw down all the available graces for a world in desperate need of Your mercy.
