All Boy Altar Serving Corp/Group/Club

Anyone,
I’ve been contemplating starting an all boy Alter Serving (Pick Name above) “Group”. I have found a model called “Knights of the Altar”.

Does anyone have experience running this type of model?
Any other suggestions?

I clicked your link which took me to the Facebook page.

On the “About” page it said. “Knights of the Holy Queen in Wichita, KS is an apostolate dedicated to the formation of Men through total consecration to Jesus through Mary.”

Not sure but I don’t think this is an Altar Serving “Group” per se’. If you know more, please share.

Does anyone know how to remove a thread that you have started? I think I should have posted this in another forum.
 
Hmmmmm. How does your parish handle altar boys now? Does your pastor allow girls to serve? I would start by speaking to your pastor or the priest in charge of training the altar boys. There is no point in starting a group that duplicates what is already done.

If your idea is to get the boys who serve to also do other fun things together, that is a great idea. You probably don’t have to start it very formally, perhaps suggest an Epiphany party and then take it from there.

Already talked to multiple priests in our area. They like the idea. The whole concept would be a “Father/Son” group. Monthly meetings/outings and of course training on serving. This is a multi-parish type thing, so it would not replace the current Altar Servers at each Parish. The group would rotate service at the parishes that have Father/Son teams in our group.

The main thrust is getting Men (young and old) active in serving the Church and growing in the Faith.

My research led me to “Knights of the Altar”. Still in the planning stages. Any suggestions are welcome.
