Welcome to the forums, catholismwhattt. I 't think you’re going to find your sentiments don’t meet with approval here.
Doesn’t you’re god say to do unto others as you would have them do unto you?
I expect other Catholics to do their duty to me, so why is this a problem?
and accept them for who they are?
I’m fairly certain it says that precisely nowhere in the Bible.
god doesn’t give a **** if you’re gay or not.
That’s pretty obviously false. He ordered practicing homosexuals killed in the Old Testament. Clearly he doesn’t like such behavior, which stands to reason: He designed us with complementary sexual equipment for a reason.
he just asks for your love.
Specifically, your obedience to His law.
so by discriminating against gay’s and their RIGHT to marry are you not committing sin? yes you are.
(A) No such right exists, your baseless assertion to the contrary notwithstanding.
(B) Discrimination is not in and of itself a sin.
(C) You mentioned before that we are “judging” people. What exactly do you think is meant by “judging” people? You seem to think it means “saying that a certain behavior is sinful.” Yet you are accusing us of sin. Is this not, by your standard, judging people?
John 15:12
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."
There is more to Catholicism than what’s in the Bible. There is more to the Bible than “love your neighbor.” And there is a
lot more to “love your neighbor” than “tolerate every perversion they practice.”
“Love” (i.e., agape, caritas) is not mere toleration. It means willing what is best for another. What is best for another is, by definition, to not sin. That means reminding people of their duty not to sin and chastising them for their failures with respect to that duty, as you imagine you’re chastising us right now (and as I’m actually chastising you).
God loves everyone for who they are,
True. So?
and fyi being gay isn’t a choice, you don’t wake up one day and think hmm I’m gonna be gay today. no you’re born with it and hmmm isn’t everyone one of god’s creations?
This has nothing to do with anything. Are you even aware of why Catholics oppose gay “marriage”?
Also, I’d like to point out the first amendment of the constitution, which prohibits the making of laws based upon a religion… … people come here to escape their own countries strict and unorthodox laws because we represent freedom. but are we really even free when there’s this redundant argument going on about it?
First, it prohibits formal establishment of religion only.
Second, I personally don’t care about the Constitution or the Founders, bunch of deist Freemason traitors. Third, even if I did care about it or the demonic vision of “freedom” they propounded, even that wouldn’t require gay “marriage,” which has nothing to do with “freedom” but with naked power-grabbing by an entitled minority which has no right to have its perversions endorsed by the state.
those of you who take the bible to the letter,
No one here does that. We aren’t Protestants.
what makes you think you’re interpretation of the bible is right? what makes christianity right? your god DEMANDS you honour him as the sole god, and some think back to paganism and how there are many gods and how they demanded you’re love, and think that they were harsh because sacrifices were given to honour them. your god demands love and honour sooo much that if you don’t you’re going to “burn in hell” for all eternity… so much for a loving god.
Two minutes ago you were saying our God of love demands that we tolerate homosexuals. Make up your mind, please.
as a child i was brought up catholic and i was terrified of sunday school because i was told if i lie, am mean to someone, or don’t treat them properly i am going to suffer for eternity.
I sincerely doubt that’s true, given that, like, no one believes it.
what kind of religion threatens people into believing it. you choose to honour god fine, but if you’re gonna live by his rules you have to accept gay marriage because as i stated before due unto others as you would have them do unto you.
do*
You’re not even being coherent anymore.
you don’t let them get married, you’re going against god and well sorry to tell you but by doing that, you’re going to burn in hell for eternity.
This is the God whom, just moments ago, you were accusing of psychopathy? And this coming from a man who, just moments ago, said that saying things like “you’re going to burn in hell for eternity” constitutes sinful judgmentalism! I suspect you’re a troll.
here’s a quote i urge you all to live by. “Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” -marcus aurelius.
I challenge you to provide an exact citation for that quote. I’ve read Marcus Aurelius before and that reads like something typed up on the fly by a 13-year-old. To say nothing of the fact you’re insisting Christians order our lives according to a pagan who persecuted Christians.
