he’s right though. Some parents are inconsiderate of the noise and distraction that their children can be. maybe this is not the place to state it, but it’s true.
Except that it was completely off topic of this thread. That has nothing to do with great reasons to have children. 🤷

Until I had my own children, I had no idea what kind of love I would feel. It still blows me away. Other people’s kids always annoyed me when they were rude or acted up; now I am more patient with other people’s children b/c I understand better.

I’ve always been patient with other people’s kids. I always knew that having kids was hard and that is truly isn’t possible to keep a toddler quiet all the time. You just can’t do it. If parents were expected to keep their infants from ever crying in public or two-year-olds from having an unexpected meltdown in the grocery store they would never leave the house.
I agree that they shoulnd’t be brought to fancy restaurants, but I know plenty of (childless) people who complain loudly when women bring babies to mass, even if they get up and take them outside when they cry. Many people have zero tolerance for babies and young children in public and I think they need to take a step back, realize how hard it is, and be a little forgiving.

You’ve misunderstood me here. I’m talking about the children that are not disciplined by their parents. I’m talking about the children that are allowed to run around and be rude. I’m not talking about normal toddler behaviour. That has never annoyed me.

Now when I see a toddler who is not disciplined, I feel bad for the toddler b/c it’s not their fault and they are learning bad behaviour. I no longer feel annoyed. I just feel sad for the child, but annoyed with the parents lack of judgement.

My daughter will come up and give me random hugs and say “I love you Daddy!”. She is a blast to take to the playground. We have so much fun doing the little things in life. I love watching her discover new things. We will paint or color together for an hour or more. It’s all the little and big things.

It is tough to be a parent, especially in a culture that denigrates and insults parents at every turn (ESPECIALLY fathers). It is tough when they melt down or throw a fit or just become obstinate for no reason at the completely wrong time. But of all the best things in life, the most difficult ones are the most rewarding in the long run.

I totally agree…

I also agree with this.

Coming from experience… Then seeing these same kids become teenagers in the neighborhood that cause the troubles and parents still think nothing’s wrong (not my kids)…

Just found this and had to share…

I found this on self.com, this information is provided by Prudence Hall, MD, who specializes in functional medicine and gynecology and is the founder and director of The Hall Health & Longevity Center in Venice, Calif.

**“Women who don’t have children are at a higher risk for breast cancer,” says Hall. “The
changes the breasts go through during pregnancy actually protect the breast.”

Studies show that the more children a woman has and the longer she breastfeeds them, the lower her risk of cancer. This can largely be attributed to changes in levels of estrogen, which fuels most forms of breast cancer."**

Now before anyone jumps on me she goes on to explain that there are breast cancer preventative measure that can be taken if you are not a mother, expectant mother or breastfeeding. Also having kids does not mean that you will not get it just that your risk lowers.

One of the biggest reasons, or results I’ve found since having my daughter is how much this has been a journey in my own personal growth in faith, love and charity. Every day, I am learning so much about myself, about God, about other human beings, be it a child or an adult. I realize how much God is teaching me as I raise my daughter in the faith. Not only that, having a child has given so much back to our marriage, I am discovering so many things I didn’t know about my husband as he fulfills his role as a father. Its a gift that just keeps on giving, one that I never take for granted.

I have to disagree a bit. I can’t think of a time when we’ve ever made it easiER (it will never be what I call easy) on kids or on those who have them. — that might be resulting in a bit of backlash from those who do not have, and do not want, children.
I don’t understand why any Faithful person in a loving relationship would not want to have kids. It’s like saying it’s your goal to finish in second place, but not first place. Personally, I believe we shouldn’t let fear of the unknown stand in the way. Sure, times will be tough, you’ll feel lost and confused. Reaching deep inside the self to find a solution that is the rewarding part, but many people fear it because they can’t see it. Do we live our lives more because we are motivated by from the thrill of victory and drinking deeply from life’s cup, or more from the fear of the unknown and of losing? 🤷 I know which I prefer. It’s not the losses, it’s the victories that matter. Life will always be imperfect (come with losses).

Sure, there are moments of truth when times are very difficult where you will need to decide to either grow up, choose to do the difficult work and discipline your kids, or remain as your parent’s child, take the easy way out, and run from disciplining the kids. There should be both fun and discipline. I’m thinking that you’re irritated with those parents who choose to remain as their parents’ children, who don’t discipline their kids, and ruin your meal. 😉

I liked this forum. I wanted to say that for me I’m grateful of having children because each one has made me more selfless, and more obedient to God. After all, when you have a child, you are pushed to give more and love more. You have the opportunity to put into practice love of neighbor right away. They need of you and you have to respond.

Children are gifts from God. Even if you are not a parent you can always give love to a child in your life, friend’s child, niece or nephew, etc… We were once children. As we look at our children I wonder what the future holds for them. What expierences they will share with others, and how they build relationships. It really is awesome for us parents to have such an important seat as a spectator and also a cheerleader in their lives.

I do not want kids, I have always known that since I was a child.

He gave us the free will to decide, and there have been a lot of mothers who bought into that idea that God wants them to have children, they felt forced and obligated by their church, many children have suffered because of this. Many have been murdered by their mothers. I have also met mothers, Catholic mothers to be exact, who said God blessed them with all these children. One lady I met had 7 and they were all out of control, one of them was violent and a danger to have in the home. A couple of them got pregnant right after high school and they were not even married, another one got a girl pregnant and wouldn’t even help out. The mom’s attitude was still one of God wanted her to have these kids and they were her little blessings, in fact they were little menaces to society in my mind. I myself am not stable enough to have my own kids, I could into to that some other time. I only came into contact with the Catholic Church through a foster care like place I stayed in during high school and even after high school. I even got baptized and confirmed because I have always believed that Christ was the savior of the world. The Catholic followers were very forceful with me in these discussions on having babies. I do not want one, not now, not ever. Loud noise triggers migraines and stress, I need lots of sleep, and I suffer from anxiety. It could also be detrimental to my body to go through pregnancy and child birth. I was told that it is a joy to die while delivering a baby-this was mostly told to me by men, even men who wanted to date me. I will never be with a man who sees my body as a martyr for babies. This other mother I was talking about is also mentally unstable, and she is still crazy enough to tell me to have children of my own, no matter what the pain. She does not discipline her kids, accept she does make them confess their sins. I feel like I am supposed to get married and have actually been dating a Buddhist for 4 years. He does not care if I want to be a Christian-I am a Christian now not a Catholic, mainly due to the forcefulness to procreate that they put on me. We have decided to not have kids, in fact he may be sterile due to a health problem he experienced. LIke I said the reasons I do not want them are-they make too much noise and I lose my mind, I have no family-both parents are dead and I have no siblings-I would have no one to help me out if I needed a break, I get stressed and tired very easily, I have back problems and do not want extra weight from pregnancy and I do not want to carry a child around all day, kids and mean and rude and selfish, and my childhood sucked-so now I want to do somethings for myself as an adult that IN ever got to do-I want to hike in other countries, learn how to dance, get a college degree, and compose music. I have spent countless hours volunteering in the public school system with kids who can not read so do not tell me I am selfish if I do not want a child living inside me or in my home. Volunteering with them for a few hours is all I can handle. Also, do not tell me if I make a bad mother than I will make a bad wife, I already got that one and it is nonsense.
