Well I probably wouldn’t be able to understand this as a parent. And im not going to tell you how to raise your child especially if your core interests are to protect their health.

But I can tell you from experience that I wish I learned the hard way. I am currently 16 years if age and about two years ago, sexual sin was my lifestyle. It became my lifestyle because of how convenient it was. With all the years I had originally wasted on such a disgusting lifestyle, I personally would have traded that for a life with a consequence that I am justly deserving of along with the what would have followed after learning from my consequence. That being a life where I would get to live a good portion of my childhood in a more responsible and joyful manner.

As I said, I’m not here to tell you how to parent your or anyone’s child especially when it comes to health. But look at me and others as an example and determine what is worth more to you. The accessibility to safer sex leading to the possibility of damaging someone’s life style and personality and overall mental health, or bearing the consequences the first go and being able to go on with life more chaste, innocent, knowledgeable, and ready to take om other temptations of life knowing their consequences.

All in all, God bless you and your family. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Dominus Vobiscum.

Ok. I can respect that. This as very insightful to be honest. I suppose it’s important for all of us to remember that we all perceive the importance of things differently. And now I feel a better understand your pov, and for that I’m thankful

I’m not here to change your mind on this topic but to better understand and foster the same with those on this forum.

Good luck on this journey we call life. Even when we start off making poor decisions, the lesson we learn help us to make better ones going forward.

How so?

Maybe run for school board instead?
All Catholic parents in Vermont should begin home-schooling or sending their children to Catholic schools, exclusively.
Or maybe run for school board and be the change they want…

My concern is this: does this just encourage unhealthy sexual behaviours?

I’m concerned that kids are going to think: “Oh, I can have sex as many times as I want!”

I know where this is coming from, but I think this is just encouraging unhealthy sexual behaviours. I’m concerned.

Gives them a reason to change the law so they can consent #loveislove right?

We bought and donated Catholic Bibles for the school library, as well as Catholic books to speak to the Accelerated Reader Program approved “Left Behind” books.

As every school district is different, we worked overtime from certain curriculums in the schools. Condoms in middle schools were not an issue in our school district.

Personally, I don’t think so.

Again, I don’t think so.

I guess I disagree. If they are at the point of engaging in sexual activity, they will do it whether or not they can get condoms. I’m pretty sure we could get condoms from the school nurse 20 years ago, but nobody did.

If they are at the point of engaging
I may be misunderstanding the poster to whom you are replying, but my sense is that a concern is being shared that those not on the point of engaging are being encouraged through the way school is presenting sex and condoms to the children.

🤦‍♂️

When you think things can’t get worse, they start giving 11 year olds condoms.

These people are really sick in the head.

God help us!
🙏

And my point was, anyone who is going to get condoms as school (for use, not as a joke) were going to get them either-which-way, and honestly would go to the store and buy anonymously at an automated checkout vs. grabbing them from someone at school. I guess I don’t see it as being encouraging, those that need (want) them are going to get them someplace else.

I remember being able to get them at school, and there was no way any of us would do that rather than going to Shopko or KMart.

About that: historical data shows that any benefit received from more widespread condom use is swamped by an increase in sexual activity.
I’m not so sure of that. Seat belts do not increase driving or cause people to drive more recklessly.

Well, yes. Can there be any doubt that the sexual revolution of the 1960s was triggered by massive society wide acceptance and use of the birth control pill? Would the sexual revolution of the 60s ever have happened without the pill? No way. There is no other possible outcome in response to free condoms, than an increase in sexual behavior and activity. But we either can’t or won’t face up to the obvious.

“Do you have eyes but fail to see?”, Jesus asked (Mark 8:18). Uh, yes, very definitely. “Claiming to be wise, they became fools” (‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:22‬). That too it seems.

We as a society have made a god out of sex without consequences. It’s madness.

This is a really good point. It has never been easier to get your own this way, without any scrutiny from any adult. So why would VT’s leaders go through the trouble and expense of this? This is a wise use of taxpayer money?

When I worked in a home for unwed mothers, we had more than one 11 year old mom come through our doors.

So sad.The youngest I ever witnessed while volunteering at Birthline was a 14 year old.She just kept saying “this is crazy!”
My concerns re the availability of condoms to such young people is they will perhaps decide to get into sexual behaviors they might not otherwise engage in.Additionally, due to their immaturity the failure rate of these condoms will probably be high, this resulting in an unwanted pregnancy and likely an abortion.

Then there seems to be no reason for schools to purchase them.
