All Will Be Revealed?

Hello all you Saints!

I hope one of you can help me with something I have been wondering about.

First a little background to help you understand where I am, and where I am coming from:
I am an x-con, x-baptist, x-thief, x-druggie, and became a Catholic from the Bishop while I was in prison in 2006. I was 61 this year. So, you see, I have a lot to be revealed, exposed for all to see, as God may or may not see now. I also do not know the faith as I would had I learned the Catechism from childhood. In fact, I didn’t learn that the Catholic church wasn’t just another “denomination” until I was over 50, but that it is THE original church and catholic tradition since the beginning, founded by Jesus himself.

Now, I am not sure if this concept of “all will be revealed” is catholic or is it from my protestant history. And to what extent and to what pain or/or glory. I am not afraid of this answer, but I do not want to believe something not catholic anymore so I need to know 😃

Ok, So here is my question:

Would someone help me by explaining this concept and where I might find supporting evidence for everyone knowing everything about each other (if that is the meaning)? I wonder if there is something in Sacred Scripture and maybe in the Catechism?

Jesus said it, and it was in the context that evil loves the darkness, and cannot stand the light. Therefore, those who are doing these deeds (and the dark deeds of the heart) will be brought into the light.

As a repentent sinner, you brought your deeds into the light of God’s Mercy in confession. The deeds are washed away as if they never happened. Hopefully, you have been thorough about your confessions. If this is so, you will have nothing to be ashamed about.

**John 3:19-21.

“This is the judgement, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.” **

Yeah for the closed confessional.

Did you know that in the “good old days”, say 1200 years ago and more, confession was no easy thing. Penances lasted for years and were very public. You spent about a year outside the Church, begging for prayers as people went in. The were known as “weepers”.

The next year, you were allowed in the Church, but not to Communion. I forget what they were called.

The third year there was some other penance. I can’t remember all the details.

In any case, you were usually fasting on bread and water this whole time, and had to do some pilgrimage or other really difficult penance, on top of publicly confessing the sin (s).

They didn’t fool around in the old days, when it came to sin. On the other hand, I suppose sinners made sure they weren’t caught.

It is so much better, these days.

This is a wonderful answer and very loving, by the way. You have explained the concept and how it directly affects me, also where I might read more abou it. You know that you know, when you hear the truth and this is the truth.

**Matthew 10:24-26:

“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave his master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household! Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.”**

It sounds as though injustices will be righted. There is no fooling God.
 
There is also the aspect of the full truth being reveiled at the end of time.

**I saw the dead, the great and the lowly, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. Then another scroll was opened, the book of life. The dead were judged according to their deeds, by what was written in the scrolls. (Rev 20:12)

"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. (Mt 25:31-32)**
 
Mark 4:2222* For there is nothing hid, except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret, except to come to light.
 
Yes, but what does it mean? The OP is concerned about his repented deeds being paraded about. Where do all of us stand on that?
