WITHOUT GOING INTO THE FINE DETAILS

The whole creation
(Eph.1:10; Col.1:20) will be restored by recreation including all Nations/every member of the entire human race and they will have eternal life in the recreated New Earth.
.
Only the Church/Bride of Christ goes to heaven, but even the Bride of Christ will come down from heaven with Christ at His Second Coming and He will rule over all Nations with His Bride.
.

Christ will rule aver the nations with the Saints/Body of Christ/Church.

Dan.7:13-14;
13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven.
He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.

14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
.

Dan.7:21-22;
21 As I watched, this horn was waging war against the holy people and defeating them,

22 until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the holy people of the Most High, and the time came when they possessed the kingdom.
.

CCC 677 The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven.
God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgment after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world.
.

Dan.7:27;
27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High.
His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.

Is.2:4;
He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.

Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore.

.
.

THE NEW EARTH AND THE NEW HEAVEN WILL BECOME ONE IN CHRIST

Revelation 21:2, 10, 24, 26;
2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth (Bride of Christ) will bring their splendor into it. In the brackets added.

26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.
.
.

If there is no Universal Salvation and the nations are not saved, Christ will come down from heaven with His Bride to rule over all the Nations, and if the Nations are in hell, Christ with His Bride will rule over whom???
.
.
Can anyone even imagine, according with God’s Eternal Plan and Will, God authorized Satan to deceive Adam and Eve, to convert the outcome of that evil “Fall” and the EVIL AFTER EFFECTS a GREATER GOOD FOR THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE, and that “greater good” would be; apart from a few people UNIVERSAL HELL???

Could we stop judging the Pope and His writings and just focus on being better Catholics? Better Christians?
Who fully understand the Gospel, or the Catechism?
Did the Apostles fully understand everything Christ said?
Let us follow the path of Christ, a path of love, a path of humility where “the greatest is he who makes himself the smallest and the servant of all”. As the psalm says, let us live in Holy Mother Church “like a servant with his eyes on the hand of the master”. Let us pray, have a sacramental life, serve others, live a holy life in the secular world. Forget the politics, the divisions, the criticisms, the extremisms. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Obedience is its fruit.
Let us love as Christ love and pay attention to how we speak, write, and observe the Gospel.
All things work for the good of those who love God.

His Excellency is not a through-and-through universalist. You are using somebody else as a conduit to propagate your own beliefs, and that is not a kind or just thing to do.

“The possibility of damnation, above all for one’s self, is always before us. Apokatastasis is not compatible with the Christian message of salvation, simply because it distorts the message, stripping it of all meaning and significance. It makes automatic what should be the free response of love to the love of God, which offers to us, in Christ and in his Spirit, participation in the divine life.” [p. 131] Archbishop Luis F. Ladaria, “Jesus Christ Salvation for All”

“Unlike in other moments in history of theology, when the demnation of many was widely accepted, apparently without this conviction creating any problems, today the opposite opinion seems to be sustained by a wide majority.
Powerful theological reasons have induced this position.
The first and the fundamental reason is God’s universal will of salvation, which knows no limits, and the universality of the salvation that Christ brought us expressed in the paschal mystery, which is source of salvation for all humanity.” [p. 132] Archbishop Luis F. Ladaria, “Jesus Christ Salvation for All”
.
.

I don’t use His Excellency’s works to prove God’s Will is to save everyone and God will save everyone, the HIGHEST LEVEL of Catholic teachings on Predestination and Salvation far more useful to prove, God’s Love and Justice DEMANDS to save EVERY MEMBER of the human race.
.
.

Even the following Theological Facts proves without get down to the nitty-gritty that God will save everyone.

OUR SALVATION IS NOT OUR CHOICE, IT IS GOD’S CHOICE!!!

.
The Grace of God’s Call (CCCS 1996-1998) … This call to eternal life is supernatural, coming TOTALLY from God’s decision and surpassing ALL power of human intellect and will. End quote.
.

Acts 13:48; … As many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

John 15:16; You did not chose Me, but I chose you.

John 6:65; … no one can come to Me unless it is granted to him by the Father.

John 6:44; No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him,
.
.

Do you believe TK421 that our salvation is NOT our choice but it is God’s choice and we CANNOT choose God only God can choose us and God’s grace The Gift of Final Perseverance under our belts we cannot lose our salvation?
.

God’s Love and Justice DEMANDS to give every member of of the HELPLESS human race the above graces, which is salvation of every member of the human race.

Apokatastasis was rejected by the Church.

The above scriptural verses you are quoting refer to what is sometimes called “prevenient grace”. Prevenient grace needs to be followed-up by the consent of the creature in order to receive sanctifying grace.

God does not choose for us to be saved regardless of consent. This invalidates free will. Please refer to the above quote by the archbishop.

"Take it away, Fr. Dwight Longenecker:

Unfortunately for those who wish to paint Pope Francis as a lovable liberal, in fact, the Pope is simply affirming certain truths that any somewhat knowledgable Catholic will uphold. First, that Christ died to redeem the whole world. We can distinguish his redemptive work from the acceptance of salvation. He redeemed the whole world. However, many will reject that saving work. In affirming the universality of Christ’s redemptive work we are not universalists. To say that he redeemed the whole world is not to conclude that all will be saved."

Thank you for your post.

In my posts you can not find the word Apokatastasis.

When I speak Universal Salvation I speak about as follows:

“God’s universal will of salvation, which knows no limits, and the universality of the salvation that Christ brought us expressed in the paschal mystery, which is source of salvation for all humanity.

The universality of salvation and unity of Christ’s mediation mutually affirm each other
Yet by dying, he gave us life, that is the life of his resurrection.

Even those who do not know him are called to this divine vocation, that is, to the perfect son-ship in and through Christ.

Christians and non-Christians
reach this goal by virtue of the gift of the Spirit that associates us with the unique paschal ministry of Christ even if it is through diverse paths known only to God.” [p. 132, 144, 148-149] Archbishop Luis F. Ladaria, “Jesus Christ Salvation for All”
.

As I said before, I don’t use His Excellency’s works to prove my views or to prove anything, my faith based on the HIGHEST LEVEL of the Catholic Church teachings on Predestination and Salvation and on the Scripture.

You said TK421:
God does not choose for us to be saved regardless of consent. This invalidates free will.
.
FIRST:
Nothing invalidates the free will of a child/elect of God
even as God Initially justifies us (which is an instant event) without our consent. – No one can give consent to an INSTANT event.

Before our brains even could register our Initial Justification it is already over and we are IRREVOCABLE SAVED, and our salvation is protected by God’s grace The Gift of Final Perseverance. – DE FIDE Dogma. + Infallible teachings of the Trent.
.

John 15:5; “… for without Me you can do nothing.”
.
Strictly speaking only a person in the STATE OF GRACE can merit, as defined by the Church (Denzinger 1576, 1582).
.
COUNCIL OF TRENT Session 6 Chapter 8
. . . None of those things which precede justification - whether faith or works - merit the grace itself of justification.
.
.
SECOND:
AFTER our Initial Justification
our consent/our say yes to God’s call is PRODUCED by the grace of God which NEVER fails.
.
The Grace of God’s Call (CCCS 1996-1998) … This call to eternal life is supernatural, coming TOTALLY from God’s decision and surpassing ALL power of human intellect and will. End quote.
.

Phil.2:13; “For it is God who works in you BOTH TO WILL and TO ACT for His good pleasure.”
.
Aquinas said, “God changes the will WITHOUT forcing it.
But he can change the will from the fact that He himself operates in the will as He does in nature,” De Veritatis 22:9.

CCC 2022; “The divine initiative in the work of grace PRECEDES, PREPARES, and ELICITS the free response of man. …”
.
In other words, when God commands, He capacities the hearer to respond.

Our cooperation with the grace of God is produced (not just enabled) by God’s operation.

Yet the ability to respond is also His gift.

In my post # 226 I asked a question and you didn’t answer, this time I ask two questions to see do we have same views on the HIGHEST level of Catholic teachings on Predestination and Salvation.
.

FIRST QUESTION:
Do you believe TK421 that our salvation is NOT our choice (John 15:16; etc) but it is God’s choice and we CANNOT choose God only God can choose us and our answer to say yes to the call of God WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF FAIL is PRODUCED by God’s grace without violating our free will?
.
.

THEOLOGICAL FACT
Every child/elect of God at their Initial Justification IRREVOCABLY saved and their salvation is protected by God’s grace The Gift of Final Perseverance. – DE FIDE Dogma. + Infallible teachings of the Trent.
.
.

SECOND QUESTION:
Do you believe TK421 that God’s Love and Justice Demands to give every member of of the HELPLESS human race the following graces which graces saves every member of the human race?

a. The grace of God’s Justification CCCS 1990-1991.

b. The Grace of God’s Call CCCS 1996-1998.

c. God’s grace The Gift of Final Perseverance (Rom.14:4; Phil.1:6; Phil.2:13; De Veritatis 22:9; etc.).
.
.

Please TK421 don’t get me wrong, I don’t ask the above questions for the reason to test your knowledge.

Only reason I ask the above questions to see are we have a same views and understanding on the HIGHEST LEVEL teachings of the Catholic Church on Predestination and Salvation.

These people have been a cause of concern since it may have seemed they were rejected by the Church.

Amoris Laetitia also seems to show that the Pope believes that all will be saved.
NO ONE has been rejected by the Church. Certain behaviors have been rejected by the Church, just as certain behaviors were and are rejected by Christ, including remarrying after divorcing a spouse who still lives.

As far as your claim that Pope Francis believes that all will be saved, show me exactly where he said that. I don’t believe he has.

Thank you for your post. – Good post.
.

Your quote from Fr. Dwight Longenecker simplified:

a. Christ redeemed the whole world.

b. Many will reject His saving work.

c. Universality of redemption doesn’t mean all will be saved.
.
.
The ISSUE is point b.; God’s Will is to save everyone but God is not able to because many reject His call to everlasting life.
.
.
THE ABOVE FORMULA IN ANOTHER FORMATION

a. Christ redeemed the whole world. – b. Many will reject His saving work. = c. Few are saved.
.

Many other people has the same above view/calculation, but are they correct???
.

That is the best that our loving heavenly father our LOVING and JUST ALMIGHTY GOD CAN DO to save a few people and throw the rest of the HELPLESS people who cannot save themselves to the the pains of hell for all eternity???
.
.
In my opinion: We don’t have to be spiritual geniuses to know there is something crucial missing from the above calculation.

God’s Eternal Design/Plan which is His will is to save everyone and He is working on this Design/Plan from all eternity to SAVE EVERYONE.
.
Did God make some crucial mistakes in His Design/Plan and His calculation to SAVE EVERYONE and now He is not able to?
.
.
In my opinion:
Not God is the One who made some crucial mistakes in His Design/Plan and His calculation.
.
God already “practise” in Nineveh His Design/Plan of UNIVERSAL SALVATION which plan He has for the entire human race and the “rehearsal” of His plan/will of Universal Salvation in Nineveh was 100 % success even with unwilling Jonah.
.
.

GOD’S MESSAGE AND HIS DEMONSTRATION OF UNIVERSAL SALVATION IN NINEVEH
  1. Jonah 1:2; The Ninevites wickedness was so great came up before God.
  2. Jonah 3:4; God promised to the Ninevites throw all of them to hell.
  3. Jonah 4:11; God demonstrated His Eternal Design/Plan, His Universal Salvation in Nineveh.
    .
According to the Scripture, the Ninevites were probably the most wicked people in the whole world and yet God’s recreation of them didn’t produce even one junk or disobedient new creation.
.

NO ONE CAN BE SAVED without God’s recreation (it doesn’t matter how we cut it, God recreates everyone, this is God’s responsibility, can be NO exception), we can be SURE God DOES NOT recreate anyone to be a junk. – God doesn’t make junk.
.

In one hand God doesn’t make junk, in the other hand The Grace of God’s Call (CCCS 1996-1998) … This call to eternal life is supernatural, coming TOTALLY from God’s decision and surpassing ALL power of human intellect and will. + The Gift of Final Perseverance ,is an Eternal Protection of our salvation, the CIRCLE IS CLOSED . – So, who can go to hell, NO ONE!!!
.

The believers and the creators of the formula below learned NOTHING from God’s MESSAGE and His DEMONSTRATION OF UNIVERSAL SALVATION IN in Nineveh and learned nothing from the HIGHEST LEVEL teachings of the Catholic Church.
.

a. Christ redeemed the whole world. – b. Many (junks) will reject His saving work. = c. Few are saved.
.
Those who who believe and made the above formula they made two crucial mistakes in their calculation.

THEIR FIRST CRUCIAL MISTAKE WHAT IS MISSING FROM THEIR CALCULATION IS:
.
They didn’t calculate into their formula the following crucial theological facts:
.
The Grace of God’s Call (CCCS 1996-1998) … This call to eternal life is supernatural, coming TOTALLY from God’s decision and surpassing ALL power of human intellect and will. End quote.

.
In their calculation they disregarded God’s grace The Gift of Final Perseverance (Rom.14:4; Phil.1:6; Phil.2:13; De Veritatis 22:9; etc.) which is an Eternal Protection of the salvation of EVERY Initially Justified child of God. – Infallible Teachings of the Trent.

a. Christ redeemed the whole world.

b. Our cooperation is produced by God’s grace. + God’s grace The Gift of Final Perseverance is an infallible protection of our salvation.

c. Universality of redemption means all will be saved.

ANOTHER FORMATION OF THE CORRECT SALVATION FORMULA

TWO CRUCIAL THEOLOGICAL FACTS/TRUTH MISSING FROM THEIR COUNTERFEIT SALVATION FORMULA
  1. Our cooperation with the grace of God is PRODUCED by God’s grace/God’s operation DISREGARDED from their calculation.

a. Christ redeemed the whole world.

b. Many will reject His saving work.

THE CORRECTED SALVATION FORMULA

ANOTHER FORMATION OF THE CORRECTED SALVATION FORMULA

a. Christ redeemed the whole world. + b. Our cooperation is produced by God’s grace. + The Gift of Final Perseverance. = c. All will be saved.

THEIR TWO CRUCIAL MISCACULATIONS OF THOSE WHO BELIEVE APART FROM A FEW PEOPLE UNIVERSAL HELL OR EVEN ONE SINGLE PERSON END UP IN HELL:
.
.
THEIR FIRST CRUCIAL MISTAKE: DISREGARDED from their calculation the following Theological Facts.
.
The Grace of God’s Call (CCCS 1996-1998) … This call to eternal life is supernatural, coming TOTALLY from God’s decision and surpassing ALL power of human intellect and will.
.

Phil.2:13; “For it is God who works in you BOTH TO WILL and TO ACT for His good pleasure.”

Yet the ability to respond is also His gift.
.
Our cooperation with the grace of God is produced (not just enabled) by God’s operation DISREGARDED from their calculation.
.
.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Our cooperation with salvation related graces is PRODUCED by God’s operation, for this reason CAN NEVER BE REJECTED, while our cooperation with other kind of graces we are only ENABLED by God’s operation but not produced, so this kind of graces sometimes can be rejected, this rejection does not effects our entrance to heaven (our entrance to heaven, as predestined to heaven, cannot be lost – DE FIDE Dogma) but negatively effects our glory and positions in heaven.
.
.
THEIR SECOND CRUCIAL MISTAKE:
.
God’s grace The Gift of Final Perseverance (Rom.14:4; Phil.1:6; Phil.2:13; De Veritatis 22:9; etc.) is an Eternal Protection of the salvation of EVERY Initially Justified. – Infallible Teachings of the Trent, DISREGARDED from their calculation.

I believe that all can be saved. Here is my take on the subject -

It is common practice for the dead in purgatory to obtain indulgence from God through the Catholic Church for remission of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven (C.C.C., X. Indulgences). So, in other words, the Catholic Church intervenes for the individual by asking Father God, who stores up our good works, to apply some of them in lieu of punishment due to sins. But these indulgences are limited to those who die in the communion of saints - the faithful dead only.

The Churches fail to teach the complete redemptive work of Christ. The Gospel work of salvation must reach to all humans in all places of all times.

Mark 16:15. He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

We must learn to search scripture with the loving heart of Christ

Lamentations 3:31-30. For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone.

Jesus descended into hell for three days to deliver the faithful dead with His sacrificial blood atonement.

1 Peter 4:6. For this reason the gospel was preached also to the dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in spirit.

Jesus now holds the keys to death and Hades. The unfaithful dead in hell can be saved. Otherwise, the redemptive work of Christ would not be complete and we fall short of the glory of God.

Revelations 1:18. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Our good works can be offered up to Christ as atonement for the sins of those who died without faith and are now in hell.
Atonement is necessary because they did not have faith in their lifetimes. This completes the gospel work of salvation. To say otherwise, is to cut short the redemptive work of Christ.

Thanks for all contributions.
Various views have been expressed, perhaps they can be summarized.

Notforgotten: all can be saved.
Steve_B, TK421: rejects universalism/apokatastasis.
Latin: all will be saved.
Whyeyeman: few will be saved.

My view is that all may be saved. It is not unreasonable for a Catholic to hold that all may be saved.
I believe this is the view of Hans Urs von Balthasar and many modern theologians and Church leadres.

When it comes to the idea of “hoping all may be saved,” I think there is a misunderstanding of the phrase. The only meaning that makes sense is that we hope that all may be saved as individuals, not as a group. IOW, I can hope that each individual who lives now, has lived, or will live, gets to Heaven. But to hope that all humanity as a group enters Heaven would be a denial of Christ’s words!
