God reavealed His unique name to His people. Allah is a generic name for god/God and shows a limitation in the language which does not differentiate between gods(sic)

Do your research
LOL, you of all people telling me to do research.

You said, “Allah is a false god of polytheists.” These are your own words. But IN FACT, “Allah” is the name of God in ARABIC BIBLES, read by ARAB CHRISTIANS. In other words, Arab Christians worship Allah. Are you calling them polytheists, or are you calling your own Lord false?

Those who say that Allah is a pagan moon god or other such nonsense are blindly following a lie which has been thoroughly refuted here: islamic-awareness.org/Quran/Sources/Allah/moongod.html

It’s nothing but nonsense, as the article points out.

Allah is the name of “God” in Arabic. This is a simple fact, and it is used by Arab Christians and yes, in fact, Arab Jews.

Now, between these three faiths, only Christians attribute divinity to Jesus, and thus they say that Muslims have an “imperfect” understanding of God.

However, Muslims and Jews have the SAME understanding of God, in that neither attributes divinity to Jesus. So perhaps, for those participants of the thread who wish to claim that Christians and Jews worship the same God, and Muslims a different one, by their own reasoning, they are incorrect, and it would only be correct for them to say that:

Muslims and Jews worship the same God
And Christians worship a different one.

That’s ok. Because in arabic, allah (besides being the name of the lunar deity Islam worships) is also a generic word for “god/gods/God” no matter what god that is.

No,

Jews worship God the Father. (only one Hypostasis of God.)

Catholic Christians worship the Holy Trinity (all three Hypostases of God.)

Muslims do not call their god “Father”, claim he has no son, and their god is vindictive and cruel, unlike the God Christians and Jews worship. His name is Allah, and he was worshipped in pre-Islamic Arabia. He is a lunar deity, and his consort was a sun goddess (Al-Manat, I think.)

This is what secular historians and anthropologists say. Not crazy anti-Islamic people.

The Zam-Zam well in Mecca–any of you who have studied Jewish traditions might recognize it as Miriam’s Well–which sprung from the ground at Ishmael’s foot, is still in Mecca today. The Ka’ba was rebuilt there as well, by Abraham and Ishmael. (It was originally built by Adam and destroyed in the flood.)

I have just above posted the link which shows that Allah is not a moon god, and a full refutation of that absurd myth which unfortunately missionaries are so easily duped into believing.

And in fact, the “generic word” in Arabic of “god” is ILAH. Ilaah. Ilaah. That is the word for something which is worshipped. Ilaah.

The NAME for GOD is ALLAH. Not the same word. The shahaadah reads, laa ilaaha illa Allah. laa (no) ilaaha (thing to worship) illa (except) Allah (the absolute one God.)

Allah is a proper word, it cannot be made plural, masculine, or feminine. The other word can, but Allah is only singular, and without any gender. A proper name the One God.

I see you are unfamiliar with the Qur’an, and what it says about the Trinity. In fact, there is only ONE GOD without any partners, without any son. Muslims worship only God, which Christians call “the Father.” Christians say the One God has a son and a spirit, which Muslims reject. Jews only worship God, as Muslims do.

Moreover, of all the names and attributes given to God in Islam, none is “vindictive” or “cruel.” In fact, Allah is named THE MERCIFUL, and THE COMPASSIONATE, and THE KIND, and THE GENEROUS, and so on.

There is no lunar god in Islam. Allah swt created the moon, and if you read the Qur’an you will see how “Al-lat” and “Manat” “Al-Uzza” are shown to be nothing at all in Islam. “Nothing but names which you have devised” is what the Qur’an says about these. And I’ve already posted a refutation to the silly moon god theory which you continue to espouse.

And Christians living in Muslim lands too. He is the same God regardless of what some have said. We just have two different perceptions of him and two different styles of worship.
But did Moses say Allah?

Did Abraham?

Even though the research seems legitimate, I can’t just have Mohammed come along 500 so years after Christ and tell me he worships “Allah” and that his “Allah” is the same as my Yhwh. He was a false Prophet. If he’s a false prophet, you should easily understand that we would question whether his god is really Yhwh or not.
And in fact, the “generic word” in Arabic of “god” is ILAH. Ilaah. Ilaah. That is the word for something which is worshipped. Ilaah.
I was under the impression Ilah was a modernized form of the old allah-god word. I stand corrected.
The NAME for GOD is ALLAH. Not the same word. The shahaadah reads, laa ilaaha illa Allah. laa (no) ilaaha (thing to worship) illa (except) Allah (the absolute one God.)
We don’t call our God by the proper name “Allah”. So it is our obligation to be defensive and question whether this “Allah” really is our God.
Allah is a proper word, it cannot be made plural, masculine, or feminine. The other word can, but Allah is only singular, and without any gender. A proper name the One God.
So it is a proper name. A name we don’t use for our God.

Actually, I used to have a copy of the Quran and I’ve read much of it (a while ago though.) If their Allah has no son, he can’t be my Father Who has a Son.
Moreover, of all the names and attributes given to God in Islam, none is “vindictive” or “cruel.” In fact, Allah is named THE MERCIFUL, and THE COMPASSIONATE, and THE KIND, and THE GENEROUS, and so on.
Give him all the names they want, it won’t change his personality.
There is no lunar god in Islam.
Just wondering; why the Moon symbol on the Mosques?

The Quran contains 109 verses that call Muslims to war with non-“infidels”. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers, and other various body parts, and kill the infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called ‘hypocrites’ and warned that Allah will send them to damnation if they do not join the slaughter.

So much for Allah the Compassionate.

“And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]…and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah.”

Sura (2:244) - “Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things.”

Sura (2:216) - “Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.”

Sura (3:56) - “As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help.”

Sura (3:151) - “Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority”. This speaks directly of killing Christians, since they believe in the Trinity (ie. what Muhammad incorrectly believed to be 'joining companions to “Allah”).

Sura (4:74) - “Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.”

Sura (4:76) - “Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…”

Sura (4:89) - “They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks.”

Sura (4:95) - “Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-” This passage not only criticizes “peaceful” Muslims who do not join in the violence, but also demolishes the modern myth that “Jihad” doesn’t mean holy war in the Qur’an, but rather a spiritual struggle. Not only is the Arabic word used in this passage, but it is clearly not referring to anything spiritual, since the physically disabled are given exemption.

Sura (4:104) - “And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain…”

Pursuing an injured enemy is horribly depraved and unjust.

Just wondering; why the Moon symbol on the Mosques?
I was told that it was because it represented guidance on the true path (just like the light of the moon would guide people in the desert). But this was by my religious studies teacher, while she was very wise, I can’t vouch for her knowledge of Islam.

But did Moses say Allah?
Did Abraham?
Dessert, can’t you see that Moses and Abraham were not Arabs? Arabic was not their language. Moses was a Hebrew, while Abraham’s language must have been some kind of Old Aramaic (though in Genesis, what’s used is the Hebrew). True, Arabic is a Semitic language, but it’s not quite Hebrew!
Once we get this, we can go further more accurately.

Although to Muslims and Jews we Christians seem to worship a different god (or is it different gods in your view?), it really is the same One God. As for the Trinity, although we cannot explain per se how this can be, it’s really one God in three distinct persons always working together: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
It comes from Matthew 28, 19: “So wherever you go, make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name (not “the names”, you noticed?) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” So, it’s there! And it’s the same One God, only it’s from a further revelation coming from Jesus himself. How it doesn’t break the Oneness of God, I don’t know, but I believe this. So do the Catholics and other Christians who know their faith.

The stumbling block really is Jesus the Messiah himself, and he also happens to be the Corner Stone of our Christian faith. As for the “imperfect” understanding of God… it’s a matter of incompleteness, really, and only in this could we refer to “imperfection” in understanding of God.

Ishmael did not settle in Arabia. He is not the father of arabs thus could not teach them the God of Abraham. Allah is a false god of polytheists,
What other Gods to Muslims worship?

Why do Muslims say they worship the God of Abraham if they don’t?

What other Gods to Muslims worship?

Why do Muslims say they worship the God of Abraham if they don’t?
Muslims worship the cheif god of the polytheists who lived in Mecca prior to Mohammed.

They believe a lie.
