Well, according to the map you put, it looks more like it’s Saudi Arabia! Isn’t Egypt in Northeast Africa? If the wilderness of Paran is in Egypt, well its borders sure have shrunk a lot!!

I acknowledge, though, that it’s not along the Red Sea, unlike Medina and Mecca, but still, it’s not that far from Paran to the south or southwest…

Muslims worship the cheif god of the polytheists who lived in Mecca prior to Mohammed.

They believe a lie.
Repeating something ad nauseum doesn’t make it true, it only turns thinking people away from the idea being propagated.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

“The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”

And from THIS Christian website:

*“And what about the 10 to 12 million Arab Christians today? They have been calling God ‘Allah’ in their Bibles, hymns, poems, writings, and worship for over nineteen centuries.” *

From a Christian view, the idea that Muslims worship a ‘different’ God is still sheer mayhem. Even if we do disagree on some details a different God that does not make.
I was told that it was because it represented guidance on the true path (just like the light of the moon would guide people in the desert). But this was by my religious studies teacher, while she was very wise, I can’t vouch for her knowledge of Islam.
Your teacher could well have been right here. However it shouldn’t be mistaken as a symbol of Islam, it isn’t. It was the symbol of the Ottoman Empire, which being the major Muslim power of its day Europeans often associated their crescent moon emblem with Islam, but it has no theological basis and was never used by Muslims until the 15th Century.

Sister Amy didn’t lie to you about the Bibles written in Arabic. And myself I heard it on TV in a report on Ethiopia, I think, where a Christian Arab was told to yield his place to the Muslims. He protested that his family had been there way before Islam existed. It was also he who p(name removed by moderator)ointed that Muslims are not the first to call God Allah, that the Arab Christians have always called God Allah. I p(name removed by moderator)ointed this fact myself in another thread (without going to these details, though!)
So no, Hisalone, Sister Amy wasn’t making this up!

The lie is that the allah that Muslims worship is the same God as Abraham worshiped. The lie is that Mohammed is a prophet. The lie is that the bible is corrupted and the Quaran superceeds it. The lie is that Mohammed brought back the lost legacy of Ishmael after 4,000 years of dormancy. The lie is that was preserved by word of mouth to a greater perfection than Gods written word. The lie is that Abraham and Ismael visited Mecca. The lie is that Mohammed ever visited Jerusalem.
Lapell I could go on and on.

The symbol of the TURKISH or OTTOMAN empire was the crescent moon. It has nothing at all to do with Islam, but was used on flags by the OTTOMANS and sometimes they would put it on top of the minarets as well.

The symbol, once again, is not part of Islam, does not originate from the teachings of Muhammad, and was an insignia of the TURKS in the lands that they ruled.

I would advise anyone reading this thread to discount the posts of “Hisalone” because he is clearly lying, and not providing any proof for his statements, and could easily mislead the unwary reader. So far just about everything he’s said about Islam is a lie.

I encourage all to do their own research. Do not accept Muslims at their word. But delve into where Ishmael settled. What archeology says vs what Islam says. Research the history of the polytheist who dwelt in Mecca before Mohammed. research to the name of Mohammeds father who was named after the cheif god of these polythiests.
Look at it for yourself but do not accept the words of decieved people as fact without researching them yourself.

So far, that is just about the only thing you have said that I fully agree with.

By all means, research for yourselves the truth. And mayhaps it will lead you to the Truth…

As we know, all roads lead to Rome. 👍

Do Muslims believe that the bible is corrupted?
Yes
Do Muslims believe the Quaran superceeds the bible?
Yes
Do Muslims believe Mohammed is a direct descendant of Ismael?
Yes
Do Muslims believe that the Quaran which was not written but memorized is a prefered way of preserving the exact words that have been transmitted?
Yes
How did Abraham and Ishamael visit Mecca when Ishmael was sent away and settled in a region not near Mecca? Was athere even a Mecca at the time of Abraham?

The topic of discussion is not the validity of the Muslim faith but whether the name Allah refers to and idol. I would tread very carefully around the name of God.

One thing I admire about those of eastern descent, (not only Christians) is that they exhibit an attitude of reverence not just in prayer, but in all things religious. For that matter, even the Hindus I know (as polytheistic as they come) would not speak disrespectfully of our God. The same respect may or may not be extended to us Christians, but they generally draw the line at direct attacks on God.

If we are to win people over to Christ, surely we cannot be outdone in our behavior by them.

Al-Quran Chapter/Surah:Al-Fil

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Have you (O Muhammad (SAW)) not seen how your Lord dealt with the Owners of the Elephant? [The elephant army which came from Yemen under the command of Abrahah Al-Ashram intending to destroy the Ka’bah at Makkah]. (1) Did He not make their plot go astray? (2) And He sent against them birds, in flocks, (3) Striking them with stones of Sijjîl (baked clay). (4) And He made them like (an empty field of) stalks (of which the corn has been eaten up by cattle).] (5)

House of Allah/God (Kaabah)at [Makkah,Saudi Arabia] built by Abrahim/Ibrahim and Ismael. Allah/God promises its protection.

They would have visited before he was sent away.

Ishmael and Esau were a mixed people and spread from Mount Seir around Petra on south.

So they believe that they are worshipping the God of Abraham, but you know better? 😉

I think if that they believe they are worshipping the God of Abraham, they are. You are denying their belief, their faith.

What unbiased source would you suggest?
