If Catholics claim that the pontiff is not a paganization of Catholicism from older Roman religions, or that household idols in the names of Saints instead of smaller Roman dieties for every household, or that the vestments, priesthood, customs etc… of Catholicism isn’t pagan even though much of it mirrors ancient Roman religions. Then how fair is it to tell Muslims they worhsip a moon god when they emphatically state otherwise?

The words & objects & other things have changed their semantic function, so that the words for them no longer denote what they did. Which is why it is silly to suppose that because the words pontifex maximus are used for the Pope, it follows that the the pre-Christian content is denoted by those words.

Whatever objections there are to Islam, the argument from identity of words proves nothing unless the pre-Islamic words still point to pre-Islamic content. Otherwise, the pre-Islamic words have changed their semantic function. Just as has happened in Judaism & especially in Christianity

Besides, how far is this paganism-spotting to be taken ? A revelation to Arabs in Arabic can hardly avoid using a language which before the revelation had a pre-revelatory content. Of course there are verbal similarities between pre-Islamic & Islamic religion - that’s to be expected. The only way to avoid the similarities would be to have a Koran in a language never spoken by any men on earth: & that would make it useless.
