Allow your child to attend school with children of parents who contracept?

Would you allow your child to attend a Catholic school that admits children whose parents, contracept, are not validly married, cheat on their taxes, exploit their workers, run stop signs, got married in a big church wedding after living together for five years, use public office for personal gain, have business dealings with organized crime figures . . .
 
At the risk of sounding like a dangerously self-righteous prig, if my wife and I limited our kids to contact with other kids whose parents were similar or more strict in their Catholic adherence, they’d be able to visit about 12 kids in a region of 150,000 people.
 
What kind of school would be capable of keeping tabs on all that anyway? The world is full of sinners and I’m one of them!! I think these polling questions are getting a little out of hand.
 
I had to say yes…after all unless they are taking those measures in front of my kids or are telling them about “safe sex” then what is the problem?. I had a tubal ligation before I knew it was a mortal sin…I regret it…I made my confession and if I could I would get a reversal. So maybe I should not be allowed to send my kids to a Catholic school?. Where is this question coming from?. You obvoiusly have a specific concern, so tell us… and if not what is troubling you?

It really depends on how explicitly and pervasively unrepentant, publicly decadent, snide, and undermining to my child’s faith walk that the parents, faculty and/or children are. My children are there to be positively assisted in their Christian formation and education, not to be distracted and negatively influenced by wayward/unrepentant souls. Worse case, I shake the dust from my children’s shoes and move on.
 
Don’t we go to mass with many of these people every Sunday? Well, at least On Easter and Christmas…

*** First-- How would the SCHOOL know all of these things? And Second – what is the purpose of this poll? To get an official standing on who we should shun???

sure… which school do you know that investigates the medicine cabinet of the parents of all the students…
what do they do… require pelvic exams and blood test… are we getting just a little “out of it here”?

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me…

what about if they are guilty of other mortal sins…?

No. If they were doing all those things I know I couldn’t afford to send my kids there.
 
I’m guessing that PuzzleAnnie is reacting to the other polls regarding other moral issues one might choose to shield our kids from.
 
Haha!! Right on, puzzleannie!! I think this is a great poll and a great thread and I voted “yes,” because I am a sinner, too, and I know there’s not a school in this country anywhere that doesn’t have sinners!! Thank God!!

That’s usually a family affair. The kids usually grow up to be mobsters too. I don’t want my kids associating with mobsters. Although, sometimes it is nice to be able to tell some jerk, “All I gotta do is make one phone call…”😃

In all seriousness though, there is a difference between sinning and promoting a sin as morally acceptable.

Instead of jumping all over puzzleannie, some of you might take a look at a few of the recent polls which reek of self-righteous blather.
 
I’m not sure but I think most of you are missing the point of this thread.

I think it’s puzzleannie’s point that the polling questions are getting out of hand and tried to illustrate that by creating this over-the-top poll.

I’ve found some of the polls and questions border on the self-righteous. And it drives me batspit when someone posts a poll without answering it herself. Not you puzzleannie. 😉
