I was reading about that poor woman who is, thank God, not going to be stoned to death after Iran backed down, however, they maybe putting her to death by other means.
Anyway, I also read that if a person can dig their way out of the hole, they can go free IF they survive the stoning. Very fair…
But the fairest part is this, a woman has to be buried up to her chest area, unable to move her arms at ALL making her escape totally impossible. However, a man only gets buried up to his waist which makes his escape way more easier.
As you can see, this is another example of how wonderful islam treats women.
I want to know why is this rule so and explain to me how is this fairer to a woman?

Don`t hold your breath waiting!.

It makes you wonder how much sadistic pleasure some of these mullahs, ayatollahs, sentencing judges etc get out of a womans, or a young girls, “execution” (eg the 16yo*** rape victim***: the sentencing judge put the noose around her neck, and gave the crane operator the signal…).

Are women literally being used as scapegoats, similar to the OT Israelites? At least they used real goats!
Do men feel their sins are atoned for by taking it out on women?
Or is it just for men`s pleasure?

So, am I to understand that your real objection here isn’t that she’s being stoned to death for adultery, just that she is being buried up to her chest and not her waist like men?

Perhaps the real objection shoud be that Iran is still stoning people to death. Even if they weren’t I can’t imagine that their other methods would be acceptable by western standards.

It’s just the Gestapo and NKVD all over again.

Same syndrome.

Putting a 16yo girl to death by suspending her from a crane jib until shes dead from strangulation doesnt sound humane (!), apart from the fact that she was a victim, not a perpetrator.

You’re absolutely correct.

You are right! sometimes the Bible considers women as inferior to men. However, the Bible doesn’t permit physical abuse of women. There are many practices in the Holy Quran I don’t understand at all. If not 150 lashes in a public place (Sharia law), you are being stoned to death. Allah is a peaceful and loving God. Allah forgives our sins because HE loves us. Stoning people to death is something very ‘inhumane’.

Historically, it’s not just a Muslim thing though, is it?

It’s ‘trying to create a perfect perfect people in a perfect society through terror, intimidation and denunciation’ with the added attraction of allowing a natural home for both the terminally self-righteous and that society’s sociopaths and psychopaths in the ‘enforcement community’.

The whole business has a long and inglorious history.

Escape!!! :rotfl: where did you read that !!!

The person will be stoned till death, and the woman has to buried like that so that her chest will not be uncovered and cause men to see it.

Back in the 1980s, Scott Hahn said that he was asked to debate a very well theologically educated (Islamic theology) Muslim who was in the US at that time. The topic was to be The Blessed Trinity. Scott and his brother-in-law met the Muslim in a restaurant to discuss the form of the debate.
Every time Scott mentioned the word “Father”, his opponent-to-be got upset. Eventually, he stated why: Allah does not love like a father, but like a master to a slave (or a possession). Calling God “Father” is blasphemy. (He said: “Allah is our Master. We are His slaves.”) He even gave an example: at that time, he was living in an appartment with a pet dog. He said that he would soon be moving to another city, to an appartment which did not allow pets. He said, in all seriousness: “My dog belongs to me, and to no one else. I love my dog. When i move, I will kill my dog.”. Total ownership. Total control. What sort of emotional bond was that?!!! The same as the emotional bonds to wives and daughters?

The debate didn`t take place: Scott said “Father” once too often, and the Muslim stormed out, shouting: “The debate is cancelled!”.
In a state of shock, Scott and his brother-in-law realised the awesomeness of "***Our ***FATHER, Who art in Heaven…".

As baptised Christians, were Gods CHILDREN…and therefore, heirs.
Let`s be thankful, and stick with it!

I am not well educated on Islam, so I cannot say if the Muslims I am friends with represent mainstream Islam, but I will say they are all HORRIFIED at this. Absolutely horrified. They are all practicing Muslims, many of whom are either from or currently live in the MIddle East.
And they can point to all sorts of hadiths and verses in the Koran to back up what they are saying.
🤷

I’m not all up on the Quran, but does the Quran actually call for stoning in the case of adultery or is this just a punishment based on interpretation?

In another record of this incident we find that Umar added: “Verily stoning in the book of God is a penalty laid on married men and women who commit adultery, if proof stands or pregnancy is clear or confession is made” (Ibn Ishaq, Sirat Rasulullah, p.684). Both the records of the tradition in the Sahih of Bukhari and the Sirat of Ibn Ishaq add that Umar mentioned another missing verse which was once part of the kitabullah (viz. the Qur’an) which the earliest of Muhammad’s companions used to recite, namely “O people! Do not claim to be the offspring of other than your fathers, as it is disbelief on your part to claim to be the offspring of other than your real father.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 8, p.540).
“See that you do not forget the verse about stoning and say: We do not find it in the Book of Allah; the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) had ordered stoning and we too have done so, after him. By the Lord Who holds possession of my life, if people should not accuse me of adding to the Book of Allah, I would have this transcribed therein: Ash-shaikhu wash-shaikhatu ithaa zanayaa faarjumuu humaa. We have read this verse”. (Muwatta Imam Malik, p.352).

this is sad, essentially we are talking about a islamofascist theocracy, the question should be does the Iranian government truly represent the theology or opinions of the majority of Iranians? I hope to live to see the day when Iranians are free to elect thier own government and hopefully respect human rights including women and homosexuals, gay people all though they sin do not deserve to be hunted down and murdered as the result of a fatwah:(

stoning is part of islam, and since iran is an islamic country, they will follow sharia rules, no matter what they are.
the poor woman should be allowed to leave the country and go to the uk or something, they have already whipped her, had her in jail for 5 years, then they wanted to stone her. i think this woman has suffered long and hard enough, now they want to end her life. it absolutely makes me sick and mortified. It makes me think how lucky i am, how lucky i was born in a free country and how lucky i am to be Catholic.
