An almost identical clock to the one that sat near the spire of Notre Dame was found in storage at another church in Paris. Those involved said the discovery was almost miraculous. While it’s not exact enough to simply place in a renovated Notre Dame, it will help give restorers the dimensions and details that they need, instead of simply having to guess based off pictures. Hopefully, this will be one small thing that can make the renovations slightly less difficult.

As a lover of gothic architecture, I look forward to Notre Dame’s renovations with anticipation. Although tragic, the fire has given us a great opportunity to learn a great deal about architecture and appreciate how these incredible places of worship were built. I imagine that historic preservationists and traditional stonemasons and glassworkers are also waiting with excitement.

I placed this in Traditional Catholicism, as it pertains to traditional church architecture.
