Hard knocks: Hardeman, 16, was once beaten up after school for knowing the answers in class

By Ellis Cose

Dec. 27 / Jan. 3 issue - You would think the story would have died by now. What’s the big deal, after all, about Bill Cosby’s blasting a bunch of poor kids and their parents? While the initial salvo was fired months ago, the aftershocks are still being felt. Columnists continue to harp on Cosby’s statements, and the comedian has gone on a crusade, sermonizing across the land—and being received like a revered Biblical prophet.

“It is not all right for your 15-year-old daughter to have a child,” he told 2,400 fans in a high school in Milwaukee. He lambasted young men in Baltimore for knocking up “five, six girls.” He tongue-lashed single mothers in Atlanta for having sex within their children’s hearing “and then four days later, you bring another man into the house.” “The audience gasped,” reported The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

From the linked article:

Kenny, 17, a onetime stick-up man, puts it plainly. “Cosby is … talking about me holding up my end of the bargain. Listen … I robbed 'cause I was hungry. If he’s going to put food on my table, if he’s going to give me time to pursue education vigorously, then fine. But if he’s not, then I’m going to hold up my end of the bargain and make sure I get something to eat.”

Even if the above is true, that Kenny robbed people to get food, he only further reinforces Dr. Cosby’s point that too many parents have failed their children. Since when is it a teenager’s responsibility to put food on the table? Where was this boy’s father?

In this country he does not need to rob to eat.

That is exactly the problem.
Over 80% of blacks in the US are born out of wedlock.
Over 60% never even know who their fathers are.

How are you going to learn to be a man it nobody is there to teach you?

And because the father is no where to be found (assumed), then who is there to teach young Kenny that he has a choice, he can rob to get food, he can go to Children’s Services, Food Bank, a Christian agency to get not only food, but also to be shown a better way of life.

This is the result of failed social agenda of the liberal politicians who have controlled this country since the time of Franklin Roosevelt. Even most of the republicans have been big liberals, like Nelson Rockefeller.

That is very true. It is a failed agenda that refuses to die. :banghead:

Now now, its only failed because the right people haven’t been in place to run the programs. The programs themselves are perfect.
