I am trying to understand the meaning of the Altar of Repose. I have no doubts that it has meaning, I just don’t know what the meaning is.

The Altar of Repose is the altar on which the Blessed Sacrament is reserved or exposed.

I thought the term “Altar of Repose” was that on which the Blessed Sacrament was reserved during the Triduum, following the emptying of the Tabernacle at the end of the Holy Thursday liturgy. I’ve never heard that term applied outside of the Triduum. And Ive never heard of the Blessed Sacrament being exposed at the Altar of Repose during the Triduum, although that may be a practice in other places.

I believe you are correct, according to New Advent.

However, in a parish that has regular periods of Adoration, when the Blessed Sacrament is placed back into the tabernacle, we say it is reposed. Perhaps this is causing some confusion, IDK.
