Simple question: Do altar servers need to/ should pray the prayers of vesting that the priest and deacon say when they put on the same things e.g cincture and amice?
We were taught to say our own vesting prayers back in the 50s. They were listed on the inside of the locker where the cassocks were hung.Simple question: Do altar servers need to/ should pray the prayers of vesting that the priest and deacon say when they put on the same things e.g cincture and amice?
Maybe it’s me, but I’ve never seen a server wear an amice, and traditional server cassocks don’t require cinctures.Simple question: Do altar servers need to/ should pray the prayers of vesting that the priest and deacon say when they put on the same things e.g cincture and amice?
Find a good one, print it off and show if to your priest. You never know.Wow I wish my parish would have had a group prayer before the mass started. It seems to me that this would have been a good way to ask God to help us serve the Mass w/o distractions.
In the EF these are already parts of the Mass (in Latin, of course). In my parish, servers and priests pray together just before Mass starts. In the Ordinariate, we use
I will go in unto the Altar of God.
R. Unto God, Who giveth joy to my youth.
V. Our help is in the Name of the Lord.
R. Who hath made heaven and earth.
