I would say no. As part of a habit, it would be invested on the religious at the point of becoming a Novice. Beyond this it would draw undue attention to you, possibly get in the way, and I just think is not a good idea.

What @DignumEtJustum said.
Also, any adjustments to your attire at mass while serving should be discussed with your pastor prior to being made.

The vesture of an altar server is purely the decision of the pastor. You should ask him.

Yes, some religious wear a rosary on their cincture or belt as part of the habit, but some simply wear it out of personal devotion to the rosary (as is the case in my own Order). If you want to see a good example of a lay person wearing the rosary out of devotion, look up the story of King Alphonsus of Leon and Galicia with regards to the Rosary. Its pretty powerful.

What makes you think this is a good idea.
The Rosary is a beautiful devotion but not part of the Mass.
You must remember that you are visible to everyone, and your role is to assist the priest and Deacon.
Pray your rosary, yes, but having it on your cincture is distracting, and frankly, calls attention to yourself as an individual.

I don’t know if you’re aware but all of the orders that I’m aware of have special clips so that the rosary is not actually tied. This is so that they can use it frequently in their ministry.

Alter serving is a 45 to 120-minute gig in which your sole job is to assist Father. You have ample opportunity to pray the rosary during the rest of your day.

The only way I’d see a priest permitting it was if you were doing one of those Adoration, then long procession through town, then back for Mass all day sort of deals. Given that the pockets of the alb may not be trusted, I could see a priest allowing it. But it’d be a pretty unique circumstance and not ordinary Mass.
