Do the altar servers today still say the prayer to St Stephen when changing for mass?

we say a prayer before beginning of the service/and immediately after. unfortunately I am half deaf so never yet pick up the actual words even though its the priest that says them. Though hear the words after the service better. Something about the words we speak…But its not** To** Saint Stephen. But I might just ask if I remember next time I serve because I am in choir alternate weeks and sing on Sunday

All the altar servers at my parish including myself(when I used to serve)have been taught to say the Altar Servers Prayer To St Stephen whilst changing into cassock and surplice.St Stephen,I understand is the patron saint of altar servers.The man in charge for scheduling the servers and training them,served a Low Mass for Padre Pio.A life changing experience I’m sure.

it may be that parish… and what they teach the younger end?
When I first had a go at Serving I was twenty. Nothing was said then. I didn’t last very long that time. I got into it this time and now 44. nothing was said about any prayer whilst changing. If you knew the lateness of when some of them arrive at times. What is in our hearts and the priest does bless the incense boat before it goes into the thruible, I think its that way round:blush: then he says a prayer with us all. And Immediately we come back in. I believe he is saying his own prayers when he is dressing but is instantly there for any of us if we need him for whatever I realised when about four weeks ago I innocently grabbed the moment with something.
But if you really want to know look up the Catholic Servers Guild as its all there. I had a look when took it back up again but of course am not Catholic am Anglican so there are many hidden differences there but you can google it. its all there.

Actually, the patron of altar servers is St. John Berchmans.
