I heard from a priest’s presentation not even a year ago that the wine is supposed to be at least 11.5% alcohol. I’d have to find it for myself. Any help on this would be great. I found the wine we use and it has a screw on top, which just bothers me. It’s good wine but falls below the alcohol level. I’m not sure exactly why this is the case, but I found a cork top wine that is a very sweet red wine that I alos like but even more. I’m tempted to push it… because it meets the minimum requirements that I learned about.

I’ve never seen an alcohol level requirement, other than it must contain some or it’s not wine. All that Canon Law has to say is:
Sticking to proper ‘altar wine’ is a safe way to be sure that you meet the requirements but I know many parishes that just use Father’s favorite wine from the liquor store.
Can. 924 §1. The most holy eucharistic sacrifice must be offered with bread and with wine in which a little water must be mixed.
§2. The bread must be only wheat and recently made so that there is no danger of spoiling.
All the other documents usually refer to this canon.§3. The wine must be natural from the fruit of the vine and not spoiled.

There is no alcohol level requirement. To be considered wine though, it must have some alcohol. Grape juice is not acceptable.
