At my parish a black cassock and a white surplice are worn by the servers.

Servers don’t wear vestments. Ours wear a simple, plain, server’s alb.

OF if that makes a difference to you.

when serving at the mass what vestments do u wear ?
It depends where I’m serving. At my local parish I wear a cassock with surplice unless I am a lector then I wear an alb and cincture. When serving with the bishop I wear an alb and cincture.

same except but I wear a lace surplices outside lent and requiem mass

Oh, the lace! Yes. Except that our parish just got moved and given the title of “Parish” instead of “Community”. So we are rather lacking in funds. But one of these days maybe we will get the fancy surplices.

Ours are like this also. They also wear red cassocks on the appropriate days. We do have the white surplice but not with lace.

The Altar people in the little rural church wear tan

The Altar servers at the cathedral wear white.

Priests and religious concelebrating - depends on the order.

Emhcs and readers - normal street clothing.

Black cassock and white cotta (cotta with lace for solemnities)

White hooded alb with cincture for most. Black cassock & surplice for senior servers. Adult servers wear street clothes.

This is how I look when I’m serving 😎

lol I think the sunglass make u look like you are from the mafia !!

last year on palm Sunday I had to I had to wear sunglass during the procession as it was really sunny

a black cassock and a white surplice
A black cassock and a white surplice when MCing. An alb, amice and cincture when serving.

I think the alb is most appropriate. It is the garment, the baptismal gown of all Catholic Christians. On the other hand, cassocks and surplices are clerical garments that have long been “on loan” to altar boys when they were all male and typically young males.

Do you ever read and serve at the altar at the same Mass?
I have, but it’s been at weekday masses when I am already vested as a server and the scheduled reader doesn’t show up. I have also helped at the altar while reading when we were two altar servers short at a Sunday mass.

Since I’m an instituted lector and in formation as a Deacon our pastor tends to use me to fill in were needed. As he says, I’m already in the sanctuary and trained so I might as well be used.
