Altering Human Embryos

I watched a science movie in my psychology class today. It was on space travel. The video’s main point was that humans would have to leave the earth to survive due to global warming, an ice age, or the expansion of the sun. In order to survive on another planet like Mars the scientists on the video proposed that human embryos be altered to reshape humans to adapt to any environment. I know this sounds farfetched, but does anyone know it it is ever acceptable to alter human embryos? Even to keep the human race in existence.

It probably depends upon whether or not you can find a morally valid way of doing it…if such a way even exists. Too many unanswered questions at this point, so I would say we just don’t know. Maybe you could post this in the Ask An Apologist forum?

I can’t imagine being able to do this within the marital act. That alone would make it morally unacceptable.

You know there also comes a point where we could just as easily alter the environment itself to adapt to the conditions that humans would need for survival…hmmm? Just a thought.
