Is it considered acceptable for Catholics to use so-called “alternative therapies”? I know that this expression covers a multitude of things. The story is, I developed a leg infection last May, which still hasn’t completely cleared up. After 4 months of anitbiotics my doctor said that he was going to refer me to a specialist. Last week a friend suggested that perhaps I should consider alternative therapies. Although I haven’t done any research on this, I’m a bit dubious as I’ve heard some are based on Eastern medicine which is linked to non-Christian religions. And it’s been suggested that we shouldn’t get involved in that kind of thing, as at best it’s quackery, and at worst a sin against the 1st Commandment! Does anybody know anything about this?
