I would not say that you are a “bad” Catholic. Illness is a justifiable reason to miss Mass. I would say though that it appears that you are unaware that you have options for regular confession and the reception of Communion. You can call your parish and ask for a priest to visit your home whenever you need to go to confession. You can also ask to be placed on the parish’s list of homebound parishioners so that you may be brought Communion on a regular basis by a priest, deacon, or extraordinary minister of holy Communion. As for Mass, check your local television listings to see if there is a televised Mass available in your area. Televised Masses do not substitute for attending Mass at church, but they are an option for the homebound to participate in the Mass in some way.
