After what you have said, it sounds like a traditional road is the way to go for you. I have often found it a little strange that we have to get back to the basics, but as the V2 experiment was a failure in many ways (but not all), we awake to realize how precious our traditions are, and always will be. The traditional Latin does require a bit of concentrated effort to get to know well, but once it is familiar, the NO Mass will seem very bland and banal in many ways. We hopefully learned a valuable lesson about a great many things, but the ship is not so far out to sea right now that we cannot bring it back and repair the holes in the hull.
I would question the validity of any priest who would advocate women priests, and this of course could reflect the validity of his consecrations, absolutions, baptisms and other aspects of his duty to save souls. Priests like that are much better off in another profession, as many just don’t realize what damage they are doing, yet we have seen the results of some of these liberal priests in the last 40 odd years.
Many liberal minded and “progressive” Catholics want to just merge completely with protestantism to the point that the Church will cease to resemble Catholic ways at all. This is a pipe dream that will never happen, and the traditional mass is quickly taking hold again. This return to tradition will also have to be accompanied by the return of tradition thought and morals. No more communion in the hand, girl alter servers, hippy music and people in the parish who think they have to do the job of a priest in distributing communion. It has to change back to the traditional ways, or we are in serious trouble–and I can well say, with a great sigh of relief, that we are seeing these changes taking place now.
It will take time, but I can predict that the New Mass may very well be on it’s way to being less available and the TLM more available. Seminarians are now being trained and there are many FSSP priests who I know who are training priests already out in the field for the changes that are coming. I can see the value of the New Mass for those just entering the Church, to easily aquaint them with the parts of the Mass, but a serious Catholic should always prefer the traditional Latin Mass. A person even of an average intelligence can understand the Latin required if only they would APPLY themselves to the task and remember the Sacrifice of Holy Mass is not a Broadway show or a platform for opinionated priests or parishioners to express themselves. Before V2, there was no “New” Mass, one just learned it and there was no problems…why would something have to change that was already perfect? There are to many “opinions” on that, and they all smack of protestant thinking in one way or another. Ecumenical relations only work if the person (protestant or pagan or heathen or whatever) you are cavorting with becomes a Catholic, other than that it is rather pointless. Respect them, but don’t compromise the truth for political correctness.
I urge you to find a parish that offers the traditional Latin Sacrifice of Holy Mass, do more research on the way it is done and learn all you can. I provided a great link for you below.** And most of all, pray**. Prayer is what worked for many who wanted the traditional Mass and it’s widespread return and that says a great deal. The pews are full and the Church is becoming Catholic again. God Bless You.
