Am I being a bully?

I admit that maybe I was being irritating although I have to say that I did stop doing these things and I literally only ever did them once as I mentioned. To be honest only ever intended them as a light prank to sort of get back at the others for their teasing.

What I need help on is on myself getting constantly teased even if I didn’t call for it. If I mention an interest that I have, someone is always bound to make fun of it. Then there’s this guy who is always poking me just to annoy me and today another guy did the same. I asked him what he was doing and said that he just wanted to touch me. This guy actually knows how much I hate being touched and I actually told him that I was sexually harassed in school etc… I may admit on these forums but in real life I rarely tell anyone.

I’m saying all this because even though I admit that I can be annoying I just feel bad that people get off scott free always teasing me and never, ever taking me seriously without even considering that maybe I myself am bothered.

I disagree Serap.I try to empathize with people; if I see that something nis bothering them I stop. But I’m a bit upset that based on doing these things just once people call me irritable when others keep on constantly doing worse to me and get off scott free. I’m not saying this to continue I’m just giving my own opinion.
If these people treat you this way then they dont sound like real friends…they sound like they keep you around for teasing when they want amusement…you sound like you want to be one of them and fit in with them but you dont fit in with them

If you want the teasing from them to stop just ignore them and find different friends…if they were your friends they wouldnt act that way

If they’re doing worse to you, these acquaintances of yours are not the world’s nicest people themselves. As we have said, nice people with social awareness stop when they realize that their target is not sharing in the joke. Kids don’t necessarily catch on as quickly as older people do, which is why people famously say, “Kids can be so cruel.” Kids aren’t more cruel than anyone else, but more of them are unaware of the feelings of others. Twenty-somethings? Well, some people take longer to grow up than others, and some small number seem as if they never grow up at all.

This is probably not one of those if-you-can’t-beat-'em-then-join-'em sort of situations. There are groups of guys who socialize around this kind of stuff, but really not that many. Why? Well, news flash: As it turns out, guys have feelings, too. The older you get, the fewer of the insensitive jokers there will be, because people (male and female) who aren’t actual bullies do grow out of whatever enjoyment they used to get from acting like idiots. When they see they make other people unhappy, they eventually decide that is not the kind of person they want to be, and they stop. If acting that way doesn’t come naturally to you, I wouldn’t worry about it. Just don’t do it.

As for this social circle, you probably just have to put up with them until you find better. I have known several people who were miserable in their middle school or high school, then they moved to a new school and found that it was their old classmates who were socially backwards, not them! So hang in there!

It is good to remember that people aren’t rational, they are emotional. So it might be the case that they have teased you before and this is the only time you have teased them, but they don’t see that. They are simply annoyed by what you are doing. People generally don’t like being teased, except maybe by close friends sometimes. If you aren’t friends then the teasing is probably unwelcome.

As already pointed out, you don’t sound like a bully. The fact that you care that you might be acting like a bully shows that. You have to know when to recognize and stop when someone is not enjoying your teasing. I work in the construction industry and you have to learn to not be sensitive when you are teased for something on the job. But be prepared to stand up for yourself if it gets out of hand. Sometimes a little teasing can say to a person “Hey, I really do like you” but it is done in a gentle way. I tend to not want to joke around with someone if I really do not like them.

Sometimes I think I might have said something mean but I try to counter it quickly. For example… this Saturday at school (trade school)

My Friend: “I am back! (after stepping out of the room for awhile)”
Another Student: “Nobody cares dude…”
Me: “Wait… you left?”(Implying nobody noticed he was gone)

Everyone laughed

I realized that might come across as mean and though my friend is tough I quickly said
Me: “But seriously… I though you maybe you stepped out to talk to your girl”

The point is, don’t go overboard.
