Am I being called to priesthood?

I need to give a bit of background before you answer this. I’m 19 and I’ve been in the church since I was 12. I’ve been a very active Catholic including daily prayer, weekly mass, and engaging many community activities involving the church. When I was about 15 or 16 my brother was looking at being a priest and my Dad made a comment about how I would be better fitting to be a priest. Over the years my faith grew and I really looked into the issue and almost went into seminary. Being that I wasn’t 100% sure if God was calling me I decided to wait and pray on the situation. I went to a public college and continued praying until at a retreat I had what I thought was a sign that I should be married. I was meditating on the issue and I looked over at a couple right in front of the cross. I had a longing for the love those two shared and if I hadn’t gone on the retreat I would probably have been still looking at the priesthood. I was completely convinced that I was called to marriage until today my priest, who is being moved to a new parish, said that while he’s gone I should look into priesthood. I was okay with the idea before but now I really want to be married. I’m more than willing to look into priesthood again but I’m pretty sure that God is calling me to the married life. I also don’t think I’ve talked with the priest enough for him to know what my faith life is like and that I am not interested in being a priest anymore. I am more than willing to perform God’s will but is this just the priest making a judgement off of a slight hunch or is it God calling me to priesthood?

Hi,

If marriage appeals more to you than the priesthood, then marriage most likely is your vocation-regardless of what you father or priest has said. Your life is yours; not theirs. You are in my prayers.
