Am I being selfish?

Thank you all so much for your help. The solutions to my problems are becoming clearer everyday. I had thought about meeting with a lawyer a month or two ago but I wasn’t too sure that it was going to be necessary. Now I have sent some information to quite a few different law firms and I am waiting for a response. Hopefully I will be meeting with someone shortly who can counsel me on the situation. I also joined an online law advice forum where I can post the same info I posted here and hopefully receive some information on what my options are.

Again, thank you and God bless 🙂

No. You are not being selfish.

His communication to you sounds like a ploy. A manipulation. To make you feel guilty.

It is doubtful that he is that distressed. If he was, he would be talking with you in a way that nurtured you during this beautiful pregnancy. Instead, he is trying to make it about him.

Perhaps the OBGYN would be able to make a copy of the visit sheets that discuss the weight and developmental stage of the baby and mail it to him.

Otherwise, take care of yourself and don’t fall for it.

I just realized something…

I think it may be too late to try and keep him out of the child’s life at this point if he went to court to establish paternity. He could use the fact that at first, I behaved like he could be a suitable father to this child. And then all of a sudden I changed my mind. I wish I would have thought of that earlier. I am really distressed over this situation. 😦

You didn’t all of a sudden change your mind.

You changed your mind after he refused to attend counseling sessions and parent sessions with a professional.

And after his own inappropriate behavior and comments.

In a courtroom, your therapist would back you up and a judge would consider her opinion and give it importance.

See a lawyer.
