Am I Being To Sensitive? (..Regarding the "Bears Prayer")

There is a “prayer” that has been circulating Facebook that uses the words of “The Our Father prayer” but also substitutes some of the words for the Chicago Bears football team (apparently it didn’t work,lol). At any rate, I find it in extremely bad taste. Am I just being too sensitive? I thought doing this was considered sinful? What do you think?
 
I sort of agree with you OP, and no one would mistake me for being a fundamentalist/ultra conservative Catholic.

We had the same thing going around for Tom Brady, the Patriots quarterback, I don’t like football (never have, has nothing to do with this) but I am borderline obsessed with baseball. I would never post something like the Bears/Patriots prayer on my Facebook.

I squirmed seeing it on my friends mood statuses, but I just let it go. You need to pick your battles, and this isn’t one to draw the sword at.

The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer that Jesus Himself told us to use. It consists of His words. For that reason alone, the mangling of this particular prayer is offensive and in extremely bad taste.

I don’t think you’re being too sensitive. I’m disgusted by the whole thing.

And I’d say that even if “Bears” were replaced with “Ducks” (I’m a big UofO fan). As I absolutely love the Ducks, it has to be awfully offensive to offend me.

And it does. A lot.

The first time I saw it on Facebook, I was very offended. Then it seemed everyone was posting it…which made me think maybe I was being too sensitive. Glad to know that others felt the same way as I.
 
I also saw the same thing (for the Patriots), and I was mildly offended. I don’t think the people posting it intended for it to be blasphemous, which is why I kind of shrugged it off, but I just wanted to say that I also was a bit bothered by it.
