I have a question and potentially many more. I was baptized as a baby by a catholic priest. I went to catholic school until I completed the sixth grade. During my time at that school I partook in First Communion but left the school prior to going through Confirmation. I can probably count on my fingers how many times I’ve been to church since then and even those times I went it was to a protestant church of some kind or another. Whenever asked I always state that I am catholic. So my question is, am I?

Well that depends on a few things.
  1. Do you believe what the Catholic church teaches?
  2. Do you believe in Jesus?
If you were babtized in the Catholic church, I would say yes. Now about what you my believe…you would need to expand on that. The Church teaches anyone Babtized in the Father Son and Holy Sprit are Catholic, whether they know it are not.

More than likely you would be considered Catholic. To confirm this you should call or write the parish where you were Baptized and request a certified copy of your Sacramental records.

Are you Catholic? Yes.

Does being a baptized Catholic mean you will not go to hell if you continue to ignore God? No.

A good answer would be I am a baptized Catholic but haven’t seriously sought God for years.

May God keep you safe and inspire your heart to seek Him.

Maria
