How would I know . If my best isn’t good enough, is it really my best ?

I think some self delusion may be taking place
I have no idea what you are talking about and not a soul on these boards can have the introspection to answer better than yourself.

I’m confused.

Proverbs 21:2 “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.”

Only God can see what is truly in our hearts and see the true intents, thoughts and motives in the choices we make.

That’s why we must not lean on our own understanding but instead “Trust in the LORD with all your heart. And do not lean on your own understanding” (Prov 3:5).

I am not sure if I am doing my best, but I am trying my hardest to give my best to others and trusting that I am walking the path he wants me to walk.

That being said. From my own personal experience, if I have the time to do all the things I want or if my body isn’t sore or tired from overuse or I am not wishing for just one hour of free time today. Then I don’t think I am doing my best and living up to what is expected of me. God has given me many gifts, talents and abilities, to use for his pleasure not mine.

The words I live by:

From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded. (Luke 12:48)

Or for all you Spiderman fans…“With great power comes great responsibility.”

Do you mean a) do you have room to Monday morning quarterback yourself or b) should you just give up an activity when you tried as hard as you possibly could and didn’t do as well as you had hoped?

If a: If you acted without reservation with the intention of giving your best effort, then in that moment, that was your best. If you over-think the “without reservation” part, however, you will drive yourself crazy.

If b: You mean is it your all-time, can’t-improve-on-it-best? You can’t know until you look at ways you might be able to improve, try to make those changes, and try again. Or just until you try enough times to satisfy a reasonable person that you will not get a better outcome no matter how many more times you try.

Look to see if you have any habits that might be impairing your performance. This is typically done by seeking out the best coaching available to you and following the coach’s advice. Prepare both diligently and intelligently. When you put in a good many more tries after such diligent preparation, you’ll probably have your answer.

I’d say keep trying until you’ve satisfied yourself and don’t want to put in the effort it takes to prepare any more.

There’s no such thing as doing your best because there’s always room for improvement.

Rather than assessing if you’ve done your best assess how could you do things better 😉
