Oh where do I begin. Im a pretty devout catholic. Im pretty true to my nature and Im not perfect by any means. I have a guilt that is killing me so bad. I found out about 7 weeks ago that my husband and I are expecting our first child. So excited too. Monday we went for our first visit and was told that our baby has no heartbeat and is not measuring up. Im suppose to be 9 weeeks pregnant and the baby is 7. So my ob/gyn recommended for me to have a second opinion. I had another scan that showed not only no heartbeat but no bloodflow anywhere, not to the placenta, the umbilical cord or even the baby. They consider this in medical terms as missed abortion. The ob/gyn gave me a choice. I can wait to pass it on my own. Which can take weeks or a month. Or I can have a medical procedure such as a D&c or D&E to eliminate the dead fetus. Im having a difficult time with knowing that my unborn child is dead. The emotions are sometimes too unbearable that I cannot face the peers at work knowing this. I decided to go with the medical procedure… I keep telling myself that Im not doing anything wrong. That this was a welcome pregnancy and the only reason im doing the procedure is that I dont want to endanger my health by doing it naturally and for the psychological reasons as well. I guess I just need comfirmation from other catholics out there to ensure that im not doing anything wrong. It just saddens me to think that a happy moment turned into sadness. does anyone have any words to help me through this terrible moment.
