I recently asked got to forgive me for all of my sins. Sometimes I don’t think all of my sins are forgive able, because I don’t think mortal sins can be forgiven outside of Confession, but then again, He can do anything. Also, I’m not entirely sure, but I’m also afraid I have committed the unforgivable sin, based on the answers I received on a different thread I started. I was frustrated because I was having bad thoughts about Who He is, but I knew those thoughts weren’t true. I finally asked Him to forgive me of all of my sins. I had thought that what I had said was contrite, and looking back, that wasn’t for me to decide. Anyway, to get to the point, I have recently thought, not only in this instance but in prior instances, thought that what I have done was unforgivable, maybe because I knew what I did was wrong but did it anyway, even though it might not have been a grave matter. I don’t know anymore. Can you help me discern whether I’ve been forgiven for all my sins or not? Thank you so much and may The Lord bless you!

The person who can help you is your priest. Go to him. Go to confession. Don’t ‘beat yourself up’ until you get there, but get there ASAP. Tomorrow is Sunday; if you have to, wait until after Mass and ask him to hear your confession then. God knows if you (assuming you had any mortal sins on your soul) made a perfect act of contrition by asking God to forgive you, but even so, as a Catholic you are bound to the norms for the forgiveness of mortal sins, and that is sacramental confession to a priest. Go to the person who has the power to ensure that you are forgiven, through Christ.

I don’t think they have confessions at my church on Sundays, but I was planning on going next Friday, which is when they do have it.

Hi Worlds,

Try not to stress out about this. 🙂

I agree with the poster Tantum Ergo.

I would also recommend that you should go and talk to your pastor/parish priest about this situation, since it is troubling you. I would go to Confession and ask him about it.

God bless you.

Thank you so much, and God bless you, too. I was planning on going to confession next Friday, which is when my church holds confessions.

You’re welcome, Worlds.

I know that sometimes we can get really worried and anxious about something, and I just didn’t want that to happen to you.

Don’t be discouraged. God loves us so much, and is so very merciful! You already have a contrite heart and are sorry for your sin, so try and be at peace.

Prayers said on your behalf dear one, to St. Anthony of Padua for peace of mind. 🙂

Thanks again so much, and thanks for praying for me. It really amazing to know you care about my peace of mind. 😃

You are not bound to confess only during scheduled Confession times. Confession is a right and you may fix up an appointment with your priest at any mutually agreeable time outside normal Confession times.
