If I Go to confession and I forget to confess a mortal sin; is that sin I forgot to confess forgiven?
According to the Church, yes. If you remember the sin latter (and it is a mortal sin) then you need to confess it at your next confession. If it’s bothering you, ask your priest for an appt. for confession. If I Go to confession and I forget to confess a mortal sin; is that sin I forgot to confess forgiven?
That’s the problem with you contemplative types. You keep trying to make sense out of things. It just doesn’t make sense.
I have to agree, it invites scrupulosity. However, it may be necessary for pastoral reasonsI’ve never understood the need to confess a forgotten sin in the future, should I remember it. What is the point of this? It’s forgiven. It seems to create a needless amount of “baggage”, in that I could spend more time confessing past, forgiven sins than I could on the “new” sins. It just doesn’t make sense. If someone could enlighten me on this, I’d appreciate it. I guess what I’m trying to say is, how can one feel forgiven if they happen to remember a sin sometime in the future and have to confess it? It would drive me nuts, and I’d probably be at the Confessional every day.
Peace,
Mike
I’ll try to make sure it doesn’t happen again. That’s the problem with you contemplative types. You keep trying to make sense out of things.
