So I was reading a recent article about Michael Keaton and his faith. That article referenced a Jimmy Fallon article about his faith. Fallon grew up Catholic, went to Catholic school, was an alter boy, etc. He fell away from the church and tried to come back at one point in his life. That didn’t last long and his reasoning talked about live bands, beach balls, no solemnity, etc. and that he missed the old mass and this new mass isn’t holy enough and it has changed too much.
So then I read another similar article on the same subject and read comments at the bottom

and they echoed jimmy’s feelings.

Couple things:
- Sounds like he went to a nondenominational .TV church to me and not a Roman Catholic mass.
- Maybe I live in a bubble but growing up in Oklahoma, which has a small Catholic population but a very high protestant concentration, I have never been to a Catholic mass that is described in the articles I read. zero. Is Catholicism changing in the bigger cities in America? Are live bands and light shows and loud music getting woven into the mass? this is totally news to me.
- Jimmy isn’t much older than me…when did most places stop offering the latin mass b/c I don’t recall ever going to one growing up and I was in catholic school.
